What Corinne posted is funny but true. My mom told me she did that when she potty trained my older brother, and told him,for every cheerio that he dunked he'd get a quarter. It worked.

We tried potty training our son at 2 years of age and that was more frustrating than anything because he wasn't ready. At about 3 he would pee on the potty but not poop and still wet the bed at night. We used both a potty chair and a potty seat on the big toilet. We just let him use what he was comfortable with. Eventually we weaned him off the potty chair and then slowly, the potty seat. My doctor told me most boys are ready around age 4. At about 3 3/4 it just clicked and in 2 weeks he was using the toilet all by himself. He wore pull-ups to bed for about a month after and we haven't had any accidents since. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but patience is a virtue.

Don't rush it. Just be relaxed. Put a potty in the bathroom and i recommend the baby bjorn potty. I tried others and with boys they would always leak. Let them run around without a diaper in a safe location for accidents and let them get that ah hah moment with they discover peeing without a diaper. My oldest at age two (potty trained 3 months after 3) would never pee naked but the minute i put on a diaper or underwear they would be wet. But eventually with no stress he learned. and never pooped in his underwear. but biggest thing make it fun.

ive never heard of candles in the toilet...then you have to pick them out before flushing...!? my mil told me how she potty trained my husband and brother in law by throwing a few cheerios or fruit loops in the toilet and having them aim. not a bunch as that would probably clog it, but like 3 or 4.

Here's an idea. Get some of those tea candles (or whatever kind float) and put those in the toilet.. Have him aim.. I would light them after they are in the toilet though, probably be easier.
