My daughter was born Dec. 29th. She is just 12 weeks old and consumes average 3.5 ounces of breastmilk every 2.5 to 3 hours. With sometimes only 3 ounces and sometimes 4.5 ounces. What are your babies eating? Specify Breastmilk or Formula, and how often? Just curious for comparison.

My son is on breast only (he gives me dirty looks with any bottles). He eats about two and a half ounces a serving, about every three hours until bed time when he eats more towards five, I would say.

That's funny, Erika, because humans thrived for years before the invention of formula.. wonder how that happened.

I give my daughter about 3 to 4oz. every 2.5-3 hrs. breastmilk only. I think you are doing fine, your baby is growing. I tell my self that all the time, people keep telling me "oh shes so small" I don't think she is though. She was born on the 29th of Dec and weights over 11 lbs

I give my son formula and he is eating 6-8 oz every 3 hours. But he is a pretty big boy, so he seems to need more to keep him satisfied.

My daughter was born on Dec 8th, still only on breastmilk. She's eating about 4 to 4 1/2 oz per bottle at day care, and has normally a total of 3, from the hours of 8:30 til 5-ish. The last one normally is after 4/4:30.

I do brest and Breast milk in bottle, for daycare. She is gaining weight and acts full, so I guess it is normal. I just felt like the Daycare workers were shocked at how little she was eating per serving. But she is petite, but still growing, and plenty of wet diapers. Thanks for your response.

How do you know exactly what she is getting when getting breastmilk? Do you pump then feed her that way? I pumped in the beginning then would supplement with formula. She drank on average 4oz total fluids about every 2.5- 3 hours. She is now strictly formula, and she feeds about 5-6oz about every 5 hours. I always measured and kept track to be sure she was getting enough. Im always afraid with strictly off the breast babies that they dont get enough, cuz you cant really measure what theyre consuming. But I guess if there is plenty of wet and poopy diapers and theyre gaining weight, theyre getting plenty.
