7 1/2 month old son still waking up at night.

My little guy is 7 month's and 3 weeks. He takes a bottle to go while he falls asleep as well. We like to "party" at our house around 4:30 every nite. A co-worker has a child 2 months younger and sleeps through the night. I feel your pain. I work in a pediatrican's office and it varies from child to child.

Everyone says how many times their LO wakes up. What about how long they are awake before settling again? Mine takes anything from 5 min to 2 hours last night :-)

Not uncommon. Mine still wakes up once or twice a night - sometimes 3 or four but not often. My sisters little girl still goes through phases of waking up during the night and shes 3 now. Most mums I meet in the real world have the same thing - I think sleeping without at least a small wake up during the night is the exception rather than the norm.



It also depends on what people define as sleeping through - I dont really count the quick dummy run as a wake up but some do - and I consider 5am as right through where others dont. At three months old I considered a six hour stretch as "right through the night" - so definitions will also play a big part of what you (dont) see on here.

My 7 month old still wakes up throughout the night as well. My 4 yr old still does, tee hee hee!!!

It's fine, totally normal!! I just can't remember the last time I had a "full" nights sleep :D

My baby still wakes up 2X per night, sometimes 3. He has never slept through the night.

My daughter has been sleeping through the night since February but I did have a week where she was waking up in the night, which was a shock! She was looking for more food, so I tried her with more food in the day (her solids) and I have no probs now, but they will wake because of food, teeth, growth spurts. They will eventually sleep through the night, they are all unique and will do it in thier own time.

Well, my son started sleepin through the night before 3 months. But I will say that we got him into a routine by getting him ready for bed, getting the room dark and quiet and giving him his last bottle. Then we just started letting him cry for 15-20 minutes and he usually fell back asleep. It's hard to let them cry, but it wasn't because he was hungry, it was just because he was used to it. Also, make sure he eats enough before bed and if he's showing signs of teething, give hime some Tylenol....but be aware it could also be ear infection! Our son was on antibiotics but had a continuous ear infection for 3 months with no indication except waking at night!

The same thing with my daughter. She used to sleep through the night until a week ago when she started waking up...she only wakes up once though... i think shes teething

My 7 month old son has been sleeping through since he was 6 months old, but before that he would wake up approx every 2 hours for a feed, to encourage him to sleep through; I started by cutting down his night feeds, EG: he was waking up to have a feed, which was approx. 7oz in the night, so every 3rd night I would cut it down by half an oz. until eventually he stopped waking up for feeds. This worked until he had his growth spurt, and then he teethed all in the space of 2 weeks.....but when we woke up/wakes up in the night, I offer him a sip of water, or give him teething gel/powders or a cuddle.....but he is no longer fussed by his bottle in the night.

Apparently babies also have restless/sleepless nights when they are reaching a new milestone too, for instance, my son had approximately 3 horrendous nights in a row, and on the 4th morning he sat up by himself for the first time, and after that, he slept soundly again! - maybe your little one is getting ready to surprise you with a new milestone!?!

Hang on in there, your sleep-deprived nights will soon be a thing of the past :o)

Yes every baby is different. Sometimes my 7 months old sleeps all night and others he wakes up anywhere from 2-6 it just various.

My baby still wakes up once a night, iv'e tried a bottle of hungry baby milk before bed, and even added baby rice to try and fill him up, but it hasn't worked. Occasionally he will sleep through. I'm ever hopeful that he will stop waking for feeds soon!!

My first which is 8 now didn't sleep all night until he was about 2, my 2yr old started sleeping all night at about 9mo. and my 7mo. old still wakes up. Your day will come I promise...

Natalie nurses every 2-3 hours on demand. Waking up anywere from 2-5 times at night. Normally 3 times at night though. My other kids were the same way and didnt sleep through the night until over a year old. Its okay with me, she wont do it forever.

my little girl had been sleeping all night and a couple of weeks ago she had started waking up some, well one night we were just running late and she ate baby food right before bed and she slept all night, so thats what weve been doing ever since then!

I've read that between 6-8 months babies will often wake more often through the night, even if they had been sleeping well beforehand. It can be due to a growth spurt, thus needing more breastmilk, or teething, or seperation anxiety. My son in particular is becoming very vocal in his objection to any sort of sleep, beginning approximately a week ago.

My daughter was sleeping through from 8pm-5/6am then again til 7/7.30 after a feed but now wakes at least twice in the night. I think its the heat and the fact she's teething. Is he teething or maybe having a growth spurt because both these cause babies to wake more at night.

I'm still struggling with at least one wake up per night. It seems the only moms you hear from are the ones of good sleepers! I've found there are plenty out there like us!

Yes, every baby is different. We still have occasional wakeups -- now because he's teething.



How many ounces is his last bottle? We had to bump up our son to 8 ozs so he wouldn't get hungry during the night. Also, he tends to pee quite a bit, so we use overnight diapers to avoid leaks. We also use a sound-soother / white noise machine to keep other household sounds from disturbing him. Just a few tricks we've found helpful to us...

If it makes you feel better my 7 month old wakes up 5 or 6 times a night. Every baby is different.
