Well, I don't know about "almost..." I did spend the early morning in the hospital having contractions without dilating. I woke up around 2:35 with this horrible pain in my abdomen, across the bellybutton and up high mostly...it was like my uterus had contracted really tight and wouldn't let go. I told the nurse when I got to L&D it was like a charley horse in my uterus. I couldn't breath in very much, couldn't move, sit up straight, it hurt to touch...even the bumps in the road on the way to the hospital made me yelp out in pain. I didn't think for one minute I was in labor. I thought something was horribly wrong.
Well, I spent 6 hours in L&D infer observation...they gave me potassium, because my levels were really low, which probably explains why I was having all that pain. I was having contractions every three minutes, and they were lasting a good minute and 20 seconds, but no dilating! So, my doc decided to go ahead and try to stop labor since I'm 36 weeks. He said if I were one more week along he would have wanted to go ahead and let me have the baby, but to be safe, he gave me three shots of that drug...Tributiline? It stops contractions, they can give you up to three doses, 20 minutes apart, and it makes you feel like you're on some sort of speed. Not too pleasant, but it finally worked and I got to go home and attempt to sleep. (Ha.)
Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else?? I am wondering if I should be expecting to go into ACTUAL labor any time soon. I am losing my mucus plug in pieces (I think), and after yesterday, I'm kind of rethinking Thanksgiving plans and all sorts of things. So, any bets on whether I'll be delivering a baby soon??
