Almost had a baby yesterday!

Well, I don't know about "almost..." I did spend the early morning in the hospital having contractions without dilating. I woke up around 2:35 with this horrible pain in my abdomen, across the bellybutton and up high mostly...it was like my uterus had contracted really tight and wouldn't let go. I told the nurse when I got to L&D it was like a charley horse in my uterus. I couldn't breath in very much, couldn't move, sit up straight, it hurt to touch...even the bumps in the road on the way to the hospital made me yelp out in pain. I didn't think for one minute I was in labor. I thought something was horribly wrong.

Well, I spent 6 hours in L&D infer observation...they gave me potassium, because my levels were really low, which probably explains why I was having all that pain. I was having contractions every three minutes, and they were lasting a good minute and 20 seconds, but no dilating! So, my doc decided to go ahead and try to stop labor since I'm 36 weeks. He said if I were one more week along he would have wanted to go ahead and let me have the baby, but to be safe, he gave me three shots of that drug...Tributiline? It stops contractions, they can give you up to three doses, 20 minutes apart, and it makes you feel like you're on some sort of speed. Not too pleasant, but it finally worked and I got to go home and attempt to sleep. (Ha.)

Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else?? I am wondering if I should be expecting to go into ACTUAL labor any time soon. I am losing my mucus plug in pieces (I think), and after yesterday, I'm kind of rethinking Thanksgiving plans and all sorts of things. So, any bets on whether I'll be delivering a baby soon??

Im actually going in Dec. 4th at 12 30pm for a csection. My sons, I dont think, wants to be in there anymore......His stomach isnt growing:-\ its about 2 weeks behind...Ive been sick the past 2 weeks so maybe that has something to do with it. WHO KNOWS. They almost took me yesterday, but Im only 37 weeks (today) and they want his lungs to mature a little more and they arent too concerned to take him just yet.

Wow that's crazy! I've found that I need to eat a lot of bananas to get rid of charlie horses all over my body (feet, legs, hips...) but that is intense. Maybe if you can keep your potassium levels up you won't go early? I think I'm one week ahead of you, due on the 12th. Best of luck!

OH MY GOD..Thats exactly what happened to me my first pregnancy. It was of course my first and I had NO idea what to expect or what was happening...so I called the dr. I was 3 cm dilated. I was 35 weeks, and GBS pos. they treated me like I was actually going into labor. My parents drove up (4 hours) and we all spent the night in the hospital. SINCE I wasnt actually dilating after 3cm all night..they gave the the tributiline and sent me home. I hated it...they also gave me Ambian to make me sleep...hated that to. Two weeks later I went into the dr. for a normal check up and I had protein in my urine and high BP. My Dr. sent me over to the hospital to get blood work done on L&D floor. I got a call at 12 to walk around for 30 mins before she came over to check me. It ended up being 2.5 hours later walking around the L&D floor. That was not fun..I was sooo uncomfortable and I just wanted to sit. When my DR. came into to check me I was dilated 3 cm, in the AM I wasnt even dilated. I was in Labor.

I was having contractions 3 mins apart yesterday and I didnt call because well I just knew I wasnt in REAL labor. I promis you will just KNOW. I wish you luck..and maybe we will have our babies the day after Thanksgiving!!!!:-D
