Any recommendations for super sensitive and dry patchy skin?

My 16 month old son has had super sensitive skin since his birth. Any recommendations for dry patchy spots on his arms and legs? Sometimes his whole body feels irritated and bumpy. It does not seem to hurt him but I want to do something to help his skin get healthy. Lots of 'good' lotions make him break out from poor ingredients. I am scared to put just anything on his skin to test it.

Sounds like eczema. My son had it too. the doctor recommended Boudreaux's Baby Butt Smooth Dry Skin Ointment. Use it right after baths. It worked great!

Eucerin cream worked best for us, and fast! The perscription steroid creams didn't even work as well. They have a lot of different formulas - even one with sunscreen which is great for my fair skinned babes.

my one 16 month old daughter also has this problem on her legs (seasonally). We have tried many lotions and the only one I found to be very helpful was Gold Bond Ultimate Healing skin cream. I like it because it is not too greasy and absorbs quickly- works great on my hands and feet as well.

olive oil. My son got really dry skin from all those baby products, so i binned them all. Used a very mild eczema cream to clear it up fast, then only use pure tap water and a little olive oil in the bath or as a massage oil. His 15 months now and his only resently had his first bubble bath, with no reaction.

My daughter had similar issues. We use Shikai Borage Dry Skin Therapy Children's Lotion after every bath and every morning.

Im in the same position. My son has eczema breakouts too. Aveeno works pretty good and for real bad patches I use some hydrcortisone cream his dr. gave.

My son has eczema also- not the sores, just the dry bumpy skin. Our doctor recommended Eucerin Plus lotion (which I bought at Wal-mart) and I've been using it for about 4 months and his skin is noticeably less bumpy. It has to be the Eucerin plus and not just plain Eucerin lotion though because the Plus part is an exfoliator that helps get rid of the dead skin cells. Hope that helps!

My son has the same kind of skin problems---after his baths I use pure almond oil on his skin (i use the same too and it makes your skin sooo soft) and then on the dry/red/itchy spots i use a steroid cream his doctor prescribed. His patches are so bad that he itches them constantly, even rubbing his poor little ankle on the carpet until it's bleeding. My cousins had the same issues when they were little and outgrew it--hopefully our babies will outgrow it too! Best of luck

Try finding pure aloe vera or vitamin E cream, and avoid fragranced ones at all costs. Often it is the fragrance that irritates their skin, just like soap. My little girl has already been on steroid cream for excema and so we are now using a baby moisturiser twice a day to try to keep her skin healthy. She has the same bumpy skin you are talking about and I have found being strict with the moisturiser has made a big difference.

have you tried olive oil - supposed to be very good for moisturising skin and should be quite gentle too. Also making sure that any cleansing products you use on him are soap free will help (if you arent already doing that).
