We are doing soy milk because of severe constipation/gas and/or diarrhea when our son has more than a couple of ounces a day of cow's milk. The soy milk is cheaper than the lactaid and has all the same nutrients in it. I am hoping he outgrows it as his brother had pretty severe constipation with cows milk at age one and outgrew it by age too. Luckily our daughter never had any problems.

Hey my daughter is also on the lactaid loctose free milk. The first time i gave her regular milk she got really sick. She seems to do really well with the lactose free milk, and she hasent had problems since then. Im not sure if its something she will grow out of or not? Hope this helps.

Miranda (my 5 year old) was on silk (soymilk) until she was 18 months old.. Thankfully Jake has escaped it. I hated buying that stuff.

I am lactose intolerant, so my son had a 50% chance of being that way, too. I had to suppliment my milk supply with formula, then switched to formula completely. He started to get really foul smelling gas, a tell tale sign. I switched him to Isomil, and the stinkies stopped. Now I am weening him off Isomil to Lactaid, and he is doing great. If there is no history of intolerance problems in yours or daddys families then he may outgrow the problem.

My first daughter had really bad lactose problems spewed milk out of her mouth like it was a waterfall. It was horrible so we had to put her on soy formula til she was a year old and it was strange cause now she's almost 3 and she's on regular adult milk non lactose, it may be a phase it may not. My daughter loved the silk milk. It was really creamy and really good for her. I would try that and maybe one day try the regular milk see if it still doesn't work then you'll know she has to stay on the lactose free
