First Hair Cut????

I shave my sons head! Since just before he turned one. He is mixed and I dont like them curls, I have a boy he should look like a boy! I had/ have fun with my daughters hair, SHE is meant to have it.......all my opinion of course! Make sure you familiarize him to what your about to do before hand, an antsy baby can make a really bad hair cut!

We cut my 19 month olds hair last week, I was so excited that he finally had some hair to cut lol !! We were going to a wedding on the Friday where my fiance was best man, so daddy and son had their hair cut together, daddy first where my L/O was fascinated as to what the lady was doing to daddys hair, then it was his turn - he was good as gold ! It was only a little trim to tidy it up a bit but he sat still and even managed to give us a few cheesy grins :)

No, we haven't cut my daughter's hair yet. She doesn't like it when I play with her hair much. She kinda has a mullet hair do going on right now. Her hair is blonde, thin, and has curl to it in the back. I think I will wait until the 2nd birthday to do a haircut for her, maybe by then she will sit still a little more.

Awh...I dont want the day to come that I have to cut my DD, 18 months, hair which is odd, because my son, who is now 5, got a haircut at 5 1/2 months then every 4-5 weeks and now we shave his head every couple of weeks.

We shaved my daughters head at 6 months because it was just dry and icky .... since then it grew into soft shiny hair and she had a full head of hair 3 months later ..... she hasnt had her official hair cut yet she is 19 months, but i did give her a fringe because it was just in her face constantly .... but she doesnt like her head being touched too much or her hair so i guess we'll have to wait for that official hair cut.

My son is just having wisps of hair grow over his hair! He was bald for a long time and his daddy says to trim and so does his paternal grandparents! NO SUCH LUCK. They will be lucky to get scissors near him before he is 3. Depending on how managable it is.

my son just had his fourth, lol. his hair grows so fast. i just had them sissor it all over but he wouldn't hold still this last time so we did the longest guard posible and i love it!

My son is almost 18mos and He still has all of his hair. I'm not ready to cut it yet and probably won't until he is at least 3 (that is if his dad let's me,ha!). I say when it becomes too much of a hassle to comb it then you should cut it.

oh and don't feel bad about waiting so long roxanne, i cried the first time i got my son's hair cut. his was cut right before his first birthday so it would look nice for his party and it is just soooo thick! i cried like a baby and he slept through the whole thing haha!

Fin just had his 2nd trim last week. I'm very lucky that my hairdresser is also a good friend so she does my hair at home and trims his at the same time. He sits in my lap and she uses the scissors on him - no real 'style' of cut, as such, but just shortens it over his ears and at the back so it's neat. He has a natural wave in his hair though so it kind of has it's own style.

I was reluctant to get it done for ages - he was about 14mths when he had his first - but he has a bit of a hair fetish (plays with mine when I'm holding him and his own when he's in his cot) and was twisting bits of it into such tight little knots that I had to cut them out anyway!

nope My son has not had his hair cut! I wont get it done yet! He has a little afro going on! We love it! LOL
Do what you want, if you dont want it cut, you dont have to, My boyfriends family wouldnt let me cut our sons hair anyways, an old wives tale is you cant until after the baby cant talk.

we are about to give my son his fourth lol! his hair is long long and thick it seems as soon as we cut it it needs to be re cut.

My son was a baldy until the last couple of months lol, so we still havent had his cut ! Its really fine too, so you can only just see it now. It needs a bit of a trim now as its starting to get long down his neck, but thats about it. We are looking into somewhere to have it cut, his dad wants him to have it all shaved off but Ive told him he has got no chance of having that done, hes only just finally got a little bit of hair lol !! He will just have it trimmed to tidy it up a bit

my son has lotsof hair we got his hair cut at about 8 months old after that we did every 8 weeks until at 15 months old he walk over and said mommy hair cut.We shave it every 7-10 days now he is 17 months old his dad is in the navy and when ever theo realizes his hair touches his ear he gets mad.So like father like son.

I took my son to a salon just before his first birthday, one with cheap kids' cuts and a racing car seat. I ending up hating the cut. It was uneven, she used the buzz which made him cry, and when I specifically said not to touch the curls at the back, she cut them off and left the TOP long... wtf. Since then I have cut his hair at home, twice since. I have found what is really easy is to do it while he is in the bath! He's occupied and sits fairly still. Trying to get him to sit in a chair doesn't work, as he wants to take the scissors and do it himself. I think not, buddy!

Wow thanks ladies, i guess im holding on too much lol i guess ill have to just get it done then, i think ill go for just a trim with the scissors, i cant believe everyone else has just done it (i prob sound silly but hes growing up so quickly its a big deal to me lol)

i cut my sons hair the day before easter and i found that the clippers worked really well and he sat really still and it evened out his hair as he had a really thick long bit at his cown but the front was really short and the back was in between and had a curl but it used to get knotty and it was difficult to clean when he would put food in it but now its really easy to handle

Yes! Our little boy was born with lots of hair and had his first hair cut around 6 months of age. Now he has one every 5-6 weeks, but his hair is straight. We go to a little place in town (which I found does better than some place like Fantastic Sams) and we also just get it cut with scissors. It's less scary and more controllable than using clippers. You can probably even hold him on your lap- I know I usually do to keep him still. I don't know what his hair cut is called. I just ask them to trim it and make it look neat.

ohhh ya my son has had 3 hair cuts! lol he got his first a week after he turned one! his hair isn't by any means thick but it was long. he just got a ceaser I guess is what its called. (just a trim with scissors)
