Hey everyone,
My son is 15 months old and I cannot get him to wear his boots! Before he started walking he had no problem with us putting shoes on him but now he screams and cries whenever we attempt to put them on. I've tried buying a bigger size and the same thing happens. Last week on vacation we were able to get them on and he absolutely loved walking around in the snow but this week he is back to screaming. Has anyone else run into this problem? Or any suggestions?

My son hated the first pair of shoes we got him, so I took him to a shoe store and they suggested something wider for his chubby tootsies. It made a world of a difference. We actually ended up getting him a pair of crocs and he LOVES them!

My son is 15mos now, started walking at 11mos. He has high arch, or something like that, the top of his foot is higher and it is hard to get into the shoes. We have had Robeez and robeez look-a-alikes (from Sears, from Joe fresh in Canada) with a lot of success! I.e. we went with soft flexible shoes and even boots that were all soft and flexi, no hard sole at all. He loved them. However, still when we thought it was time to go with regular shoes and boots and sandals (around 14 months) he cried and was deathly afraid of them. The only thing that worked was a pair of those cool sneakers that light up on the sole when you tap them on the floor - and also they were about a size too big. Wow, he loved those and wanted to wear them all the time :)

Soft and flexible are the key. Invest in good shoes at this age when you baby is learning to walk and the feet are delicate and beginning to grow. I love the leather soled Robeez shoes as well as Stride Rite shoes (you can find good deals at outlet stores and on e-bay).

If you don't want to spend a lot of money though, I would at least bring your son to a kids shoe store and have them size his feet and try on a few pairs. Listen and learn as much as you can. I was suprised that my daughter jumped from a size 3 1/2 to a 5 shoe.

thanks for the advice! and I appreciate the offer on your little girls shoes but they would probably look kinda funny on a little boy:) I am gonna try and find him some like it though. Got to try something. It's about warm enough to go outside now:)

My daughter hated wearing shoes too---they made her cry-she seemed afraid of them! But I bought her some that were a really flexible leather-almost like a moccasin (sp?) and she loves them. They are just velcro and do not have a hard sole. I think their feet are sensitive and can't be in something as stiff as a boot sometimes. Maybe you can find a pair like this for your son---or I could send you a pair of Hope's, but their white with pink flowers. ;)

My little boy does not like wearing shoes either. I have read that is better for their foot development to not wear shoes for a little while after they start walking anyway. I am thinking that warmer weather is coming up and some how I have got to get him in some shoes to go outside. I have tried some on him but none seem to fit his feet very well. Guess I will be going to a shoe store soon:) Good Luck and if you figure anything out, please let me know.
