I have a December 2008 son and am expecting my second child this coming June. Any ideas for healthy finger food recipes and healthy meal recipes? He is all about self-feeding with his hands right now and I would love some suggestions so I can keep giving him a wide variety of foods. Thank you.

I just made my baby homeade fish sticks. I took a salmon fillet and cut it into thick strips. Tossed them in flour, then egg and the bread crumbs and baked them for around 10 min or so. Mathilda loved them :)

Thank you Nicole and Kelsey for your suggestions. I am going to try them all! I have been making all of his baby food from scratch and doing purees. This is a whole new ballgame for me to learn!

cucumbers w/ cream cheese spread on them
strawberried or bananas sprinkled in wheat germ
cheese slices
whole grain crackers
rice balls (cook brown rice, put in a blender w some meat and veggies.. blend.. the rice gets sticky and then you can shape into balls.. this is the only way I can get my son to eat broccoli!)
Pasta is a great finger food.. you can use different sauces to vary it up. I will even use pureed veggies as a sauce (albeit messy)
cherrios
any steamed veggie cut into pieces

My son loves watermelon! I get the chunks at the store and cut them up into bite sized pieces. He also like fish sticks, pasta, rice, peaches, pears...basically anything soft.
