perhaps try elevating the bassinett or cot at the head end on couple of blocks of wood- just to raise the height of his head slightly- I found this worked well for my son- I also used a vaporiser/humidifier as he seemd to be very mucousy and had difficulty breathing- I found this helped...

We've had the same problem with our little girl. For the first 3 weeks she didn't sleep at all at night unless we held her close, though she slept well in her cribb during the day. It turned out she was too small to keep her own body warmth. So we heated up our room to 21°C, gave her 3 blankets and now she sleeps well. We've also put some books under the head of her crib to keep it lifted. I don't know wether it helps, but it might be worth the try. Good luck, it 's exhausting, but one day your baby will sleep all night!

sometimes when my bubs wont settle because of wind pain the dummy helps, and then she will only sleep in her bouncer...we dont bother putting her in her bassinet anymore unless she is in a deep sleep because she only wake up and then is harder to re settle

I know a couple of people who had the same thing happen with their babies. Keep trying him in the crib to get him comfortable with it, but for now, I really think that the car seat feels the most familliar to him. He's a bit scrunched in there unlike being flat and able to move freely in a crib. As long as you keep putting him into his crib, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. :) As for the gas,-try a warm bath, then a belly rub while working his legs around for him. If all else fails, a little drop of Oval after he eats. That seemed to work with my son.

We had a similar issue and found that the loss of warmth from body heat was waking our baby when we put her down.  We are now using a warm, bundling sleep sack and it keeps her from waking as easily.  Gas drops have been very halpful for us too.  Good luck!!!

i know how you feel about the not sleeping anywhere, this is my third little boy and he refuses to sleep unless being held and my other two were nothing like that, so it might just be a personality thing that your son likes to sleep in certain ways, but i guess if he acts like hes spitting or chocking there could be something more to it, but yeah i would try the keeping his upper body a little elevated

try cooled boiled water (just warm) when he has bouts of the tummy ache and plenty of winding! Also try a dummy as some babies associate tummy pain with hunger/sucking...it helps settle our 5 week old a treat.

I think the incline wedge is a super good idea for you. Maybe your son has colic? Have you talked to a doctor yet?

Maybe he has acid reflux, you could buy a wedge to elevate his mattress. Good luck,  my son is almost 4 weeks and we have had a few nights of gas and it is not fun for anyone.
