My daughter just turned 1 and had her 12 month check up. She is 19lbs and 30in tall. The doctor didn't seem concerned, but it just seems way below average when my 3 1/2 month old nephew is already 14lbs. What do your Dec. babies weigh adn how tall?

My daughter just turned one and is only abuot 18 lbs and 27 1/2 inches. She's always been tiny, and we also get a lot of people commenting on how she looks to small to be walking. I once met a 4 month old that was bigger then her!

My daughter was a preemie & at one year, she weighed 18.8 lbs & was 29 in. My son, who wasn't a preemie, weighed 23 lbs & was 31 in. Each kid grows at a different rate. She seems in a pretty normal rate to me.

My son weighed 19 lbs 13 oz and measured 29 1/2" at his 12 month check-up. His doctor was not concerned at all, since he is hitting his milestones the way he is suppose to...plus he says that at this age it is very common for a baby to slow down in gaining weight or possibly even lose some, since they are so active. As long as your baby is doing that then there is nothing to worry about, she is perfect!

My daughter is 15 lbs and is 12 mths and she is in 5% for her weight. 26 inches long 12% for height.
She still fits in her infant carrier and 3-6 mths clothes. It makes me a lil nervous she so tiny but doc doesn't seem to concerned with it.

NO way is she to small. Your Dr would let you know if he's concerned. My oldest was only 28 inches tall when he turned 1 and my third son was 19lbs by 6 months. So every child grows differently. As long as she eats well and is a pretty active girl you have nothing to worry about. :D By the way my oldest is now 11 and 1 inch shorter then me and I'm only 4'10".

I would be ok with that weight. When my oldest daughter turned 1 she was only 16 pounds and the doctor was ok with that. My 9 month just went to the doctors and is only weighing 14 pounds. We seem to have small babies but we try to feed whenever they are hungry. You just have a small daughter :-)

My baby turned 1 on Dec 12. She just had an appointment last week and is 20 lbs and 28 inches tall. The doctor isn't concerned at all.

My son is 14 months old and is 18 pounds and 26 inches tall.... he didn't make the curve on the weight chart and was in the 3rd percentile for height. I have 4 older boys who were all HUGE so it is a little scary for me that Conner is so tiny. He still fits in his baby carrier! He was 5 weeks early but I thought he would catch up by now.

My daughter is almost 14 months and shes only 21 lbs and like 32 in. I was really worried about her being to small for her age, but her doctor said it was normal, cause neither me or her father are very tall.

It is fine! My daughter was 19lbs 9 ozs and 28 1/2 inches at her one year check up!!! She is on the small side. She was born on Dec. 14, 2008, and she is just a little over 29 inches now. She was in her 25th percentile in both though, and that isn't that bad. The doctor said she was very healthy...just petite, and she might hit a growth spurt soon. Look on the bright side, she doesn't grow out of her clothes as fast, and everyone thinks she is sooo cute walking around and being so small :)

I think that like adults all babies are just different and that it depends on their bodytype. My son is 26 lbs a little over 2 ft tall, he turned 1yr old on the 11th of December. His doctor didn't say that he was overweight but he does eat ALOT... He doesn't look like he would weigh anything he doesn't have much visible body fat. I think that if the doctor isn't concerned then I wouldn't be too concerned either.

I think your daughter seems right on track.... At my daughters 12 month check up she only weighed 16 lbs and was 26 inches tall. She is in the less than 5th percentile! I was told to start adding olive oil and butter to her foods to help fatten her up. Her appetite has increased somewhat and she eats pretty well. I think she is just going to be petite.

My daughter was 1.940grams at birth (she was born at 32 weeks) and as at her 12 month check up was 9.250grams and 75cm long. They all grow at different rates, depending on genetic factors and whether or not they were formula fed or breastfed. It all evens out in the wash!

Well I haven't weigh my little boy for a long time but I know he shorter than all the other in our mothers group and we're the eldest. All I know he's eating well has plenty of energy and is happy 85% of the time so that's good enough for me. As long they're healthy and happy nothing to worry about.

My daughter weighed 17 pounds and was 29inches tall on her first birthday. She is just as healthy as can be. She is just so active she isn't gaining weight very fast even though it seems like she is constantly eating. Babies come in all shapes and sizes...some, like ours, are just small.

My December 2008 boy weighs 30 pounds and is 32 inches tall. He's a little on the big side, I guess.

I would not worry about your baby at all, though. My daughter, who's now 6 years old, was always small for her age from about 12 months on, and she is just fine. Her growth pattern was slower than other kids, it seemed, but now, she's really right about average height for her age. She's below average weight, but I'm really thin, too, so I kind of expected that she would be.

All I'm saying is that as long as your pediatrician has expressed no concern for your daughter's health, then you have nothing to worry about. Many kids grow a little slower than others, but eventually catch up. I worried about my daughter, too, but she's just fine, and yours will be, too! ♥

She is fine. My daughter just had her 12 month check up and was only 17 lbs. Her twin brother was 19 lbs. No big deal. My eldest son, who is now 4 (and was good size when born 8.5 lbs), was only 19 lbs. at 12 months too. She'll get there, as my dr. told me, as long as she is growing, is showing muscle growth as well, there is nothing to worry about. Just petit.

My little girl was 1 on 12/31/09. Her weight at her check up was 20 lb and height was 29 inches. The doctor was not concerned. He said she was slightly under the 50th percentile in weight, and over the 75th in height, so tall and skinney. She did not get that from me.

[deleted account]

my daughter is 13 months and only 18.5 lb. She was 7 lb when she was born so it's not like she was premature or very small or anything. I was worried too but the doctor assured me that she's just petite. I'm small so the doctor said it could just be genetics. She explained that the most important thing they look for is that she is growing steadily, which she has been. Don't worry, every baby is built differently just like adults. I'm just waiting patiently until she hits 20lb so I can turn her car seat around :)

My little girl, who just turned one, is 20.5 lbs and 30.5 in tall, pretty much right in line with yours. She is average size. All babies are different, so you really can't measure by others. I have one friend whose child is 2-1/2 and just reached 24 lbs while another friend has a nine month old that is larger than mine. So as long as the dr isn't worried, she's fine.

My daughter was 30in also at her one year check up and weighed somewhere between 22 and 23 lbs... however, i have heard that a lot depends on their birth weight. If she was small when she was born, it makes since that she is on the lighter side now... I know my daughter was 8lbs 7oz at birth... so the doc told us that she was following like the 70% line perfectly.... but i wouldn't worry about it if your doc isnt worried!!

The general rule I've always heard is that a baby's weight should be close to double their birthweight by 6 months, and close to triple their birthweight by one year. But listen to your doctor! If you still have concerns, call your doctor and explain what they are.

My son had to get weighed again in Jan as he was off the scale- he managed to gain 1lb in 1 month and is now 18lb exactly!! He is still not on the growth scale but honestly- you have just to look at your child- mine eats more than any other baby I know of the same age. he is walking, he climbs, he interacts. My Dr wants to keep a close eye on him but he nor I am concerned. Plus my husband is small as well. I can't remember his height but he is very short (whereas my 3yr old is off the top of the chart in height!). The main thing is their head size- not that it should be big or small- just that it continues to increase

My daughter weighed 17 lbs 11 oz and was 29 1/2 in tall on her 1 year check up. That makes her in the 5th percentile for her weight. The dr wasn't overly concerned, and said that as long as she is eating the right things that's all we could do.

My son was 12 weeks premature and was 2 lbs 2 oz at birth. At his 1 year check-up he was 19 lbs 3 oz and 29.5". The nurse at my son's ped didn't think he was premature - she said he looked like any other 1 year old. His ped was also very pleased with him and compares him to other 1 year old that aren't preemie. Every child is different and if she doesn't look skinny or small then she's probably growing just fine. I have to remember that myself. :-)

My daughter at her 9 month visit was 18 lbs. 7 oz. and then at her 12 month visit was 17 lbs. 12 oz. height was 29 1/2. We had to go back a month after her 12 month appointment for a weight check because her doctor was concerned. In January she was back up to 18 lbs. 5 oz. so the doctor was not concerned because she was gaining. She had started walking at 11 months, I think that is why she had lost a little bit of weight but she is a small girl. I do not think you have anything to be worried about. My daughter is even a little smaller that yours.

I'm having that same concern. My son is 13 months and he is 18 pounds 4 ounces. The doctor said he was a good weight but when i took him to his WIC appointment the lady told me that he is under weight. He is 29 inches long so he fine in height but his weight is a concern. She told me to try him on Pedisure but I havent yet.
