he's not ready at all :( I'll try to get him to sit on it and he thinkg its fun and a little game and runs away, plus he can't talk yet so he can't verbally tell me when he needs to go right now i"m working on the telling me he went and then we'll work on where we need to go! :)

At 15 months, my son stopped wetting his diapers at night. I waited until he was 18months to start training. I just put him on the potty every morning to get him used to it, because I knew he would go. We did that for about 3-4 months before I started putting him on the potty in the daytime. He did very well, I even skipped pull ups & went straight to underwear, I can count on one hand how many accidents he's had, which are usually someone else's fault, lol.

we used a rewards chart - worked a treat :) (well we still are having the od accident but this method seems to work best for him).

I was told that some kids don't like the sound of their wee hitting the water in the toilet or the bottom of the potty and you can place toilet paper in the bottom to soften the sound.

Hey Ree,

Just remember that potty training has 2 parts:

1 - mental preparation - talk about pee and poo...mommy and daddy ..sister/brother use the potty...

where does pee pee go

where does poop go ..have him answer these questions..make it interactive

-when you go to the toilet bring him in the bathroom and have a potty available for him to try IF he wishes

2. physical - removing the diaper/pull up (they are the same thing) and starting to use undies...they need to feel the discomfort of being wet when they pee and dirty when they poo..diapers/pullups don't allow for that

-never push him he will resist and you will be back at square 1

-potty training doesn't happen when WE want it to...it only happens when the child decides they will comply

My little man get excited about sitting on the potty but as soon as he starts to wee he freaks out and will hold it in as long as he needs to. Ive tried everything to take his mind off it and relax but he just wont. HELP!

Yes, actually. We are just over 1 week potty trained we have had maybe 3 accidents in that week and she is learning what it feels like before you need to poop so you make it to the potty on time lol

We are thrilled to be out of daytime diapers!

We're starting today! Bought some big girl panties and hoping to get through the day even if we have accidents. I've been asking her if she wants to wear them and she said no, diapers! So I took it upon myself to buy them, show them to her and see what happens. Already been through 1 pair but have plenty more! :) If anyone has any tips, please share!

My little girl was ready for toilet training before she hit 2 years, She loved going on the big toilet. I had a few issues with her pooing on the toilet so I put a step in there now and she takes herself to the toilet (and flushes it). She tells us when she has done poos and gets a treat, have had no accidents since. She still wears nappies for nighttime but usually wakes up dry, and no nappies for her daytime sleep.

My daughter is really ready to potty train and she has been for quite some time! I wish I could get the daycare onboard to help me sieze the moment. She is going potty at home some, but I think it would be more often if they would take her at daycare.

Mine quit daytime diapers just before her 2nd birthday. She's 27 months today and having very few accidents (maybe 1 every couple of weeks). She really bought into being a big girl! I'm not brave enough to tackle night time yet, I like what sleep her little brother let's me get and am not ready to throw something else in the night mix.... she does wake up dry about 70% of the time though... Good luck to anyone about to begin their potty training, there may be a few rough weeks, but the result is well worth the effort!
