I don't know if this is a bad thing? obviously hes just attracted to the lights, but he can sit in front of it for 30 mins or more without a peep. It seems to relax him too so I'm not overly against it. Any more almost three month old bubs doing this??

Our twin boys are very attracted to the lights of the TV too. We don't let them watch it right now, and we're going to try very hard to keep to the "no TV before 2 years old" rule as much as possible. If we're playing with them or feeding them and they're craning their necks trying to see it, we just turn it off. Or if they're in their bouncy chairs while we are watching TV, we just face them away from the screen. We prefer to watch most of our TV, though, when they're asleep.

My daughter does too!! AND my son refused to watch anything until he was at least 2 years old. I dont' like it! IMaybe it means they can concentrate/focus more though??? But i just got the baby einstein movies anyway. I would rather that than the other junk on tv

I swore I'd never let my son watch television and, like most of us, that went out the window. We don't leave the TV on 24/7 but we have been known to let him watch a Baby Signing Time video so we can get the bottles washed or take a shower without him screaming.

Yeah our little boy became very interested in the TV at about that age as well. i only really use it if he is really upset or grumpy and i need something to distract him from crying. i find it is really good at distracting and soothing him. he loves it so much that he arches his back and crooks his neck so he can see it so we have had to stop leaving it on other wise he would watch it all day! i also like putting age appropriate things on the TV instead of just letting him watch anything ( not really sure how much they can actually take in) He loves the baby einstein DVD's.

My daughter loves the baby channel on Sky there are 2 channels that just play soft nursery tunes and have colourful shapes going across the screen Ruby is well and truley a big fan xxx

My daughter has the done the exact same thing for a month/month and a half or so now. We let her watch Handy Manny & Mickey Mouse Club House on the Disney Channel every morning (about an hours worth of TV) and then she is pretty much done for the day. We also have a bunch of Baby Einstein DVDs for her to watch which we haven't used yet but I am planning on doing so now that she pays attention to what is on the TV. I think educational TV is better than regular TV but either way its not going to hurt her this young.

I dont see any problem with it if thy arent watching it all the time. Annike loves the wiggles, I think due to music as well, and she will talk at the tv as well, so I think it helps with her language development as well. Obviously should be limited tho

My daughter loves the Wiggles, Spongebob and Dora. She also watches some shows on Noggin (its a branch off of Nickelodeon). Noggin is educational TV. It is great. She also loves music, so we listen to I-Tunes most of the day.

I asked my Maternal Child Health Nurse about this, because I noticed the same thing and am determined not to let the tv raise my daughter, and i was worried about her vision, tv, addiction, etc she told me that recently they had a seminar with an optometrist presenting and he advised that as babies, the tv is actually quite good for stimulating their vision, focusing on objects, bright colours, etc. He said that addiction is usually formed at age 2 plus and at this young age, it doesn't hurt. Having said that. I believe everything in moderation, but i'm not too worried if she watches tv for a half hour or so now.

My son's first dvd was Baby Einstein & He loved it. (He's now 3 Months) He would make all kinds of cute baby noises and kick his feet whenever he watched it. He also does the same for The Wiggles & SpongeBob. He loves it. I also don't find anything wrong with him watching t.v. He don't watch them all day but he does watch it at least once a day. It's a break for me so I can cook supper or have a bite to eat. & I still play with him alot throughout the day. We have a ton of fun together:) & I also enjoy watching his expressions & listening to how he reacts to all of the sounds and pictures:)

My son is an addict - his dad and grandpa are the exact same way, though. The Weather Channel is his favorite. I'm looking foward to warmer weather so we can start spending more time outside!!!

I know it can't be that bad for him but I feel guilty when my son cranks his neck around to watch tv. Grandma lets him watch it when she babysits, I don't say anything. My guilt come from my pediatrican saying No TV before 2 years old.

Some tv doesn't hurt. I mean obviously no one here is putting the baby in front of it all day long and neglecting them!
My second child watched tv from day one pretty much, my son was obsessed with Hi 5 and it was always on and she was in her rocker chair a lot as a small baby.
I think it fed her imagination. She is a very bright and artistic 6yr old now.

I took some advise and got a baby enstine DVD from woolworths (about 12.95 ...beware at the 'official' babyshops the same one was 39.95$ so go to woolies!!) I got the Van Gogh World of COlours one (Vincent Van Goat - very cute) and he ADORES it, definately a good investment there if your bubba's are interested in TV as much as mine is!!  x

My little girl loves it too, they are just curious and see her family doing it, you cnat exclude her form that. To much is not good of course and i wouldn't put her there as a convienence, but if she is just chillin like the rest of us enjoying time together at the end of the day i dont see the harm, thats more about us being together relaxing

i am wondering if they can now or over the last week or so that they can really start to see things more clearly?? or something new has definitely developed with the sight right?

too funny! but pop in a baby einstein video or something on educational never too early to start :)

Ya, it isnt a good thing... But we put our 3 month old in her bouncy chair in the living room with us. And she will crank her head to watch the tv. I think its the sounds and colours they like. Just dont let them watch it for hours on end... I think as they get older, have them watch tasteful cartoons and educational shows.

My boy LOVES TV and watching Video Games. I am looking into the Baby Einstein DVD's, I do hear they are wonderful. I limit his viewing, but sometimes he keeps turning his head that way. Some researchers says too much TV can cause ADHD. I would just limit the viewing and make sure he is doing other activities. My son also love music. I have downloaded lots of kids songs and he will listen to those for hours.

My daughter loves watching Barney, i think its because of the bright colors of the characters, cause its the only show shell watch, weve tried other things, and she wont watch them..shell sit there and watch 30-60 min of it calm and laughing and giggling away, and shes 3 months old....i dont see why it would be a problem her watching tv...is it bad for their eyes or something? we keep her far from it

Yeah my baby girl watches the telly, she cant keep her eyes off it if its colourfull, i put her infront of it for about half an hour a day while i do my housework and then again wen we sit down for tea but no more than that. There is nothing wrong with watcing a bit of telle but i read that any more than 2 hours a day is bad for them. Sometimes i just turn it off while we have some tummy time so it cant distract her.

It isn't a good thing, but they do like the bright lights. My son used to be like that as well so I got the baby Einstein dvd's for him to watch and rhyme time ones. That way they are developed specifically for children's development.
