i am so sorry to hear that. My eldest son also got H1 N1 in Aug. It started from my second son who played with a friend;s son that is not feeling well. The virus was really strong. Afterthat, he was down with high fever for 8 days. in between, he passed to my eldest son and was hospitalised after a fit. But he fight through the H1N1. my youngest son also caught virus and hospitalised for broncholitis. Ever since that he is often down with flu virus that turns to broncholitis. Two days back, i bought him to KK hospital. Doctor told me that no need to check for H1N1 as it is common now. the kid has to fight through themselves . then they will be able to fight the next virus. He will be Well. i know it is not easy to go through and as parent will be sad to see them suffer. Think positive that he will be stronger after this virus. will pray for him.

He is in our prayers, hoping for a speedy recovery. Our 10 month old was sick last week with a high fever and we used a vaporizer with vicks steam drops. Worked really well and helped. Give him lots of love and rest!

I know that right now they aren't even testing for H1N1 specifically, just diagnosing the symptoms. Basically, the swine flu is like the normal flu virus. But, just as Colleen said, make sure you keep your kids hydrated if they stop eating/nursing as much and have diareah or vomitting. I would also recommend taking your child to the Ped. instead of the ER if at all possible, cause you don't want any of the bugs in the ER to get to your already compromised child. Washing hands is still the number one protection. Stock up on purell for the winter and may we all guard our babied like she bears this season!

My daughter was just diagnosed with the H1N1 on sunday night so we are into day 2 of dealing with it. She is on liquid electrolyes due to dehydration and Tamiflu. She is out of daycare right now and is doing better than sunday night thank god! She is only 10 months old so it is scary.

Desiree I dont know exactly how to know if it is the H1N1 cause there are so many darn bugs going around right now. We brought her into to the emergency sunday night due to a fever of 104, she wasnt breathing normally, she was throwing up anything she ate and she wasn't responsive (wouldnt be put down, shed cry and then when you did pick her up just lay on you lifelessly). When we got there I just thought it was an cold infection. But they put us in the flu clinic area and then after seeing her they did xrays and blood work on her. A doc from peds had to come down due to her heart rate was too fast and her difficulty breathing. Then he gave us the meds, told us to make sure we give her liquids even if its with a oral syringe and sent us home. Said if it got worse or she was still dehydrated than bring her right back up to peds. She is doing better than sunday for sure but she is only awake for maybe 3 hrs aday right now, cries alot, wont crawl so you need to hold her and she still isnt keeping food down. I dont know if any of those signs help but it happens very fast so it is scary. Take her to the doc if it does happen because I was second guessing myself, thinking maybe it would pass but I decide to take her anyways and now glad I did. Everyone else in our family is fine though. Have a 3 year old son and hes not the least bit sick, so it only affects certain ones.

I'm so sorry! Prayers your way. :) My daughter has a fever 0f 102.5 right now... took her in to ER because I'm scared of H1N1... But they didn't do a flu test. I'm going to her ped tomorrow. She was sick a week ago with a horrible croupy cough and flu like symptoms. They went away. But now she has the fever. How long was your little guy sick? And does my daughters sick symptoms sound anything like your sons?? Thanks~

you're in my prayers! I know one thing we've been doing to sort of ease my mind about getting sick is using a shopping cart cover whenever we go to the store or out to eat... my mom made me and amazing one that covers the entire area that my son comes into contact with, so all of the germs he is exposed to (save the airborne ones) are his own. If you're interested, we have a site on facebook where we sell them--- it's called Oliver Creations. Look us up :-)

I will definately send my blessings...if you have a humidifier you can use some lavender or lemon (pref.) essential oils in it for him to breathe - both will help kill off infection. Also make sure he is getting plenty of fluids to flush it out. You can also get nasal drops to help keep his nose clear for easier breathing (dependingon age - check with pharmacist). With any luck it will pass quickly and relatively painlessly... x
