OR OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "CRADLE CRAP!"...IT'S RED AND ALMOST LOOKS LIKE A RASH OR UGLY BIRTHMARK...BUT IT IS INDEED THE CRAP! HIS PEDIATRICIAN SUGGESTED BABY OIL...BUT IT'S GETTING WORSE. ANY SUGGESTIONS? HE EVEN HAS IT ABOVE HIS EYEBROWS!

My daughter also has it, we have been applying the baby oil gel, but we also found that by gently wash her hair(Head) using a washcloth instead of just our fingers it seems to get rid of the dry dead skin that is just hanging on by a thread....

My 6 month old had a horrible time with cradle cap. After I used the baby oil and washed it out and while his head was still wet I rubbed Aveeno lotion (not the baby kind) into his head and anywhere else that he had it (behind ears, on forehead). They also came out with a new adult shampoo for itchy, dry scalp and I have been using that (but have to be careful not to get it in his eyes). This has been working for me.

my son had the same problem a couple months ago, his doctor recommended washing his hair daily with a dandruff shampoo. what do you know, after a week and a half it was gone, he's getting it a little bit again now but I'm going to start it again and see if it goes away again!

Simon had this too or at least I think that's what it was. We had good luck with Olive Oil but I think that the fragerance in baby oil tends to irritate skin more that may be why that hasn't worked. What ended up "curing" it was just some time in the sun. He feel asleep in the stroller one day when I was working in the garden, when he went to sleep he was in the shade but when we went in he was a little pink. The very next day his skin was totally clear. I was shocked and sometime still expect to see it again. His was pretty bad down onto his forehead and eyebrows.

My son had rediculous cradle cap also. I asked the pediatrician what to do about it and he said to use Selsun Blue twice a week! He said just be careful not to get it in his eyes bc it will obviously hurt. He said that it should keep it under control and also said after about a month to take it down to once a week.

Olive oil (its actually better for their skin than baby oil) leaveit on aslong as possible before brushing it out.

I kept switching baby shampoo's until I found Johnson's Naturals baby wash, that seems to help my 5mth old, I also put the Johnsons Naturals lotion on his head and it works wonders. I tried Baby Oil, Olive Oil, a dozen different creams- My advice keep trying!

My doctor told me to use a dandruff shampoo once a week. That helped us. It totally went away. So every Thursday is dandruff shampoo. I just use a little bit. He also told us to use some hydrocortisone cream. It helps a lot!

My son has seborrah with a touch of cradle cap. He is 5 months old now but at his 2 month check up his doctor said, selsum blue shampoo 2 times a week. It dramatically improved the seborrah and had moderately reduced the cradle cap. It stinks, but works.

Make sure he does not have allergies. My son had the same thing but we found out that he has seborrhea which is a severe form of eczema. We tried everything and ended up taking him to the dermatologist. They put him on prednisone originally and now he has steroid creams for his head. Hope everything turns out ok for you.

My son has horrible cradle cap - or rather HAD. It showed up around 4 weeks and it didn't matter what I did, it would always come back. He had it all over his head - down his forehead into his eyebrows, down and around his ears, it even travelled to his cheeks. I slathered his head in everything - baby oil, olive oil, supposed cradle cap creams & lotions, I brushed his head every day, two or three times. All would make it look better but never get rid of it. I finally had enough and brought him in to my doc who said that sometimes cradle cap can be fungal and gave me a prescription cream. This was on tuesday morning, it's now thursday night and my son has nothing but a few stubborn flakes remaining on the center of his scalp that should be gone by tomorrow's application. I don't know if it's got an "official name" but this is what it says on the prescription receipt: Hc 1% in Ketoderm Cr Only thing was that it was rather expensive, but definately worth it!

I had to lotion my daughter's head every single day after her bath. I didn't dab it on either. I lathered her up real good. Since then no cradle cap.

Our son had really bad cradle cap too - we tried sweet oil, baby oil etc and nothing worked. Our paed recommended Bennetts Baby Aqueous Cream - we rubbed the cream on his head and made it into a "mohawk" - after 15 minutes we combed the cream off gently with a baby comb and the cradle cap flakes came off. After 2 applications his cradle cap was completely gone. Only problem is Bennets is only available in South Africa

I use Dentinox cradle cap treatment shampoo and i've found it works great plus use a soft baby hair brush to work some loose before bathtime

Both my girls had it.  When they were in the bath I would just wash their hair and leave the shampoo in and with a very fine tooth comb gently sluffed if off, both times it only took one time and it didn't come back.

I got it at Wal-Mart...it is in the baby section and has winnie the pooh on it...It is for craddle cap care...hope you find some and hope it works as good for you as me...
I tried everything else,,,oil, lotion, and nothing worked except this!!! Good luck

It's very frustrating.  I used olive oil and massaged it on her hair, about 15 mins before bath then would use baby sampoo to wash it off.  It does take a few goes.

My daughter had a little bit of cradle cap too. My doctor told me to use a soft brush. So i used the brush that i got from my riteaid kit thing and scrubbed her head during her bath and then added a little baby lotion afterwards and it seems to keep getting better each time! :)

I read that Johnson's Baby Shampoo can contribute, so I switched to Aveeno. I noticed a difference right away. I also use an oil based product from Natural Remedies (you can get it at Walmart). Leave it on for a while before bath time and use a soft brush or comb to loosen the flakes. So far it seems to be going away.

my daughter had it so when i bathed her i used to smother her head in baby oil just before i got her out and just leave it on as the baby oil locks in the moisture from the water

My son had that too....I had a terrible time with it. No sooner did the cradle cap go away and it was replaced with dry skin. I still have to lotion his head every single day. Baby oil didn't work for me either. I was so frustrated.

For two of my kids I used baby oil. I let it soak in for about 5 minutes and then with a soft baby brush i would use circular motions to bring it up. then I would wipe off the flakes with a face cloth and then re-apply the baby oil worked twice for me

I was also told to use Olive Oil and then to scrub it with a soft nail brush when washing the hair.  My daughter has it bad too, but I haven't tried the olive oil yet..guess I just can't bring myself to it, but she looks yucky so I guess I don't have much to lose.

We was told to use Olive Oil, we put it on before he goes to bed (as it looks like he is a grease monkey haha), then bath him in the morning. We put a soft brush through his hair first and this removes any loose bits.

I was told to use carrot oil for my 3 month old scalp. So far its working. I just put it on his scalp and let it sit long enough to soften then lightly scrape it up with a comb. After enough comes up, I wash his hair.
