separation anxiety

I've dealt with separation anxiety from all 4 of my kids from time to time. My MIL used to watch my older 3 until they started nursery school part-time. But my oldest started when she was 1 & I had to work over-time during tax season (she was only with my MIL). When she started nursery school at 2.5, she was fine - until I had my 3rd in March. After I was gone, she would be fine, but getting out was horrible. My 2nd & 3rd went through the same thing for brief periods. Now my aunt watches my youngest & there are days it takes my 20 minutes to get out of the house. Other days, he's ready to go to her house & couldn't care less where I am.



What I would do is: First, I'd keep to a routine as much as possible. They'd know when I was about to leave, but they got used to it. Second, I used to have my husband get my son up & out in the morning. He didn't mind not seeing me as much as leaving me. When my MIL watched them, he did most of the drop offs. The older kids didn't mind leaving with him, or seeing him leave. Third, I'd give them a hug & kiss, before getting their stuff settled.



Really all you can do is hope it ends sooner rather than later. And don't give in because that reinforces their behavior. Good luck!

I amn going through exactly the same thing when i drop my son off at nursery (daycare) he screams but as soon as im gone he is fine within 10 mins i try and stick to a routine - take his coat and shoes off give him his water bottle tell him to make mummy happy buy having his lunch and he gives me a kiss and then i say i will be back to get you after you have your lunch and then the staff take him off me and off i go!!! He really enjoys this nursery so i know he is fine and the staff are fab good luck and let me know how you get on xx

try explaing to her that you will be back. my little boy who is also three went through the same thing they just want to know you are coming back so when you get back make sure she is the first one to see you and tell her see mommy said she would be back after awhile of her seeing that when you leave you come back it gets better good luck

I don't have any suggestions for you unfortunately because I go through the same thing with the oldest of my twin boys who is 3 as well. Once I leave he is fine, but if I am any where never him, he is on me like white on rice!
