My son is 13 months old and he is so attached to me. I can just walk away like two feet away and he starts screaming for me. He follow me with his hands in the air like he wants me to pick him up. I have never spent a long time away from him, yet I feel like he thinks I am going to leave him. I want him to break this habit but I am not sure what to do.

Thats actually a great idea. I noticed that when I come back into the room and pick him up to soothe him he points to a picture of me on the wall and says Momma! and then smiles. Thanks

I was advised to get a picture of you and let him play with that while you do what needs to be done. It worked for mine.

i have the same problem with my daughter and ive found that when i go into the bathroom and she is outside the door she will cry. so while the door is shut, i reassure her, mommy is right here and will be back in just a minute. because she can still hear me she tends to not throw such a bad fit. just try it with your son, or try turning into a game. like hide and seek. babies at that age are starting to understand games and he will get the hang of it, he will start to realize that hey mommy isnt going to leave me forever, she will come back and ill be ok! just make your absences short start with like 10 seconds out of his sight and then come back into the same room and make a big deal about you found mommy! or here i am see?? hope this helps :)
