we are 3 days before so i feel your pain. My first suggestion is after this year (this is our plan anyways) to celebrate 1/2 b-days in the summer instead. everyone is busy at x-mas, the kids get ripped off etcetfc. Of course #1 is too big to do any other time, but for future years. For this years they dont know the difference, don't go crazy yourself....but other ppl will no matter what you say. If someone asks what you want or need...TELL THEM. Don't be afraid to see "we need clothes in x size" etc....otherise you'll be under a mountain of toys that never get touched.

Having a birthday close to Christmas myself I say buy the birthday presents as you would as if it were in the summer or any other time of year otherwise the child could feel left out or "ripped off" of the birthday being a separate celebration from Christmas. Now obviously at this age they don't know the difference ;)

heheh - little ones tend to get spoilt a bit too :) I have asked for everyone to either get one nice thing for each (rather than multiple cheap things) or even to just put a donation into her education fund if they want to. even with only one present from everyone she is going to drown in them so hopefully people wont go too OTT as I am haveing to do some serious decluttering already without mountains of toys!! :)
