Thanks Heather. I know those gerber jar food don't taste good. But they are supposed to be made for babies so I thought they should be good for them. I will try giving my girl a little of what I am eating for dinner later. :-) Hope she likes it!

they are full of flavor for our little guy. He is a healthy baby and we make sure to get his full servings a veggies and fruits and meats and just try to keep healthy as possible. He detests those Gerber full meals but really have you tasted them? they are nasty. If you that concerned with salt try cooking your food without salt and then add it as necessary.

Hi all

I am just wondering if the table food that you gave your babies are with full flavouring, ie whatever that we would eat? I thought babies should stay off salt till they are 2 years old? Thus I am hesitant in feeding my 11-mth old with our food. Pls advice.

Quoting Mandy:

Thanks Heather for your imput....My son is 10 months and I tried to give him table food the other evening, peas and some pasta (little graduate meals). He gagged and I just wasn't sure if he was ready. Some people say that he should already be eating table food, so I was just wondering what other moms have done..

Mine doesn't like those either and does the same thing (gagging)!  Have you ever tasted them, they're gross?!  Try giving a little bit of what you're eating like mashed potaoes, linguine, a piece of soft cooked broccoli and one my daughter loves is asparagus (cooked well done) in a little butter and sauteed garlic.  I've also given her little shredded pieces of roasted chicken.  I don't even buy the "meat" or "meals" anymore, waste of money.  Good Luck!

We started on solids at 4 months and I started giving my daughter table food as soon as her top teeth came in - around 8 months. She mostly just mouths it to get the taste. Be extremely careful of the size piece that you give and never give shellfish or nuts and milk(depending on age).

Jake has been on it since he was 7 months old when he started eating solids basically. he never cared for food all mashed up.. unless it's mashed potatos. He's eating steak and chicken now. lol

I started at about 7 mos, although my little man didn't like it much. Recently, however, if it's on my plate, he has to try it. He loves pasta... but not spaghetti, and loves anything made with ground beef, along with cheerios and a few other things he feeds himself. My other two were off baby food entirely by the time they were 9 mos, but this one is just taking his time. It's all good, they figure it out eventually.

I started giving my daughter table food at 9 months. She got to where she didn't want to eat her babyfood any more. She eats what we eat, and she loves it. It did take her a little while to get use to the different tastes & textures.

it takes a lot of patience so take it slow and dont get frustrated. he will get it with the more practice u give them!
