Tiptoes!

My son turned one on the 15th Dec and he stands on his tiptoes when standing up and walking (assisted). He sometimes even curls his toes under and stands like that. It looks so awkward and he has no balance whatsoever, I try to make him stand on flat feet but he always goes straight back up! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help this, there's no way he is going to be able to walk on his own until he stops doing this!

My nephew did this, too. It was pretty darned cute! We used to tease my sister that he was going to grow up to be a Riverdancer. He gave up the toe walking eventually, and i'm sure your boy will too. Don't be in too much of a hurry for him to walk... i wish my girl had waited a little longer!

My little man is the same way...it's nothing to worry about. I worked in a classroom with children ages 9-15 months and many of them did the same thing and had no problems walking.

my little man did that until the day he started walking. what helped a little is his push car that taught him the basics of how to walk. Then we he decided to walk he never walked on his tiptoes ever again. i think he will grow out of it jsut keep working with him.

I think my cousin's little boy did this a bit. But he eventually learned to walk just fine. But I have heard of instances where a child's calf muscles aren't long enough or something like that. I don't think you need to worry yet, but if I were you I would get it checked out just to be sure. Here's a link I found for you...

My guy is the same. They will stop when they are ready to walk, or just learn how to walk on tip toes. Don't worry, it's normal.
