What does your baby wear at night?

Hi Everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone is using a blanket for their child yet. I've been putting mine in a flannel sleeper with feet and in a zip-up sack. I've been covering him with a blanket (gasp!) But it's knitted with holes so that makes me feel better about the slim chance that he won't be able to breathe! What does your little one wear?

Depending on the temperature, he either sleeps in short or long sleeves with shorts or pants in a zippered sleeping bag thing. When it gets really cold I've got blanket sleepers for him. Sometimes I'll put a light blanket on him while he naps, but he moves around too much for a blanket at night!

My baby wears a sleeper with feet and a zip up Halo sleeper blanket on top. I'm too scared to use real blankets yet besides the fact that she moves all over in her crib at night so it wouldn't work well anyways.

my baby usually sleeps in whatever she is wearing before bed. Sometimes we get her pj on and sometimes she sleeps in the onesie shes been wearing. I figure if I'm cold then she is cold. I have used a blanket. If you are concerned about her not breathing, place the blanket under her arms and armpits, or gently wrap it around her, in a tight tuck.

For my little girl I have her in a footed PJ that zippers up. I do put her blankie on her but she ends up on top of it or hugging it in the middle of the night. I try to keep her room warm enough so she can sleep without her blanket.

I've been using a blanket for a long time as well. Once they are old enough to roll around and move away from risks, like a blanket, it should be fine. However, my baby doesn't like blankets most of the time - he kicks them off. We put him in a blanket sleeper so his feet are covered. That seems to be warm enough for him - if we added anything else, he would be sweating.

pjs and socks, and sometimes a blanket....she tends to be hot so she really doesn't like to be covered except by our down comforter if she's in with me or with one specific blanket. We tend to keep the temp around 70 in the house. Every baby likes different temps, but this works for us :)

My son usually sleeps in knit, one piece "union suits" without feet that zip from calf to neck. I would try to put socks on him, but at this age, he'd just pull them right back off! I cover him with a light quilt his grandma made him, but by midway through the night, it's nowhere near covering him.....he's hot blooded like his daddy, and hates being too hot! He still clutches his Taggie blankie though, and cuddles it through the night....it's become somewhat of a security item. From everything I've read, babies don't need a blanket at this age, but I still feel like I need to cover him up, even if for my own peace of mind. The union suits are great though.....one piece, no snaps to get all out of whack, and at the top, it has a snap tab that covers the zipper so it doesn't scratch him. And does he ever look adorable in them!

Maybe when winter actually comes (and it gets pretty cold in Ohio, especially with an old, somewhat drafty house), I will most likely hunt down some blanket sleepers. I have always read that a baby should be dressed like us....if we're hot, they're over-dressed....too cold and they're underdressed. But since my son is a human heater, it can be hard to tell!!

My 10 month old son sleeps with his pjs with the feet and thats it. I put a blanket on him and he kicks it off! He hates them. In the middle of the night Ill check on him and cover him again and he still kicks it off!

Quoting Brittany:

wow i have been using a blanket for a long time with my baby.... she likes the silkey lace on her cheek... also she sleeps in a one piece sleeper with the feet... im not a new mom this is my third child... she knows how to take the blanket off her face and has been able to for a while so i am confident she will be ok ....

i agree with u. my baby is definitely smart enough to not keep a blanket on his face. if anything he just cuddles with it and its not really covering him.

my son has actual thermal jammies. a shirt and pants. like 4 or 5 pairs. he wears those with socks and his thermal "lankie" . we joke around and call him a thermal baby, because that fabric seems to calm him immediately. incidentally he has started sleeping through the night ever since we have been using those which has been about a month. as far as blankets my son has had his lankie for forever.

My little girl is in a long sleeved sleeping bag and I have the heater on (with a smoke alarm) all night to help keep her nice and toastie :-) She has nearly outgrown it though and they dont make it in the next size up so not sure what I will do then!
