I'm wondering what everyone's babies are eating now: are they still eating baby food from a jar or just table food or somewhere in between? My son still eats mostly jarred baby food, but he eats table food too. I give him just about anything we eat that's appropriate for him. He likes to steal my food! I probably could give him just table food from now on, but I can't tell how much he's actually eating the way I do with the jarred food.

My daughter eats mainly table food now, she has recently had a cold and has gone very fussy with food. She used to eat everything, particuarly healthy stuff, but now wants mainly sweet food.

My son will not touch jar baby food; never really has. He will only eat things that he can feed himself. As you can imagine, this makes feeding him very difficult! I find when his teeth bother him, he is less interested in solid food and will only take a bottle. When his appetite returns he likes bread, cheese, scrambled eggs, pasta, veggies, and just about anything he sees my husband and me eating! I sometimes worry he's not eating as well as he should, since I can't feed him jar food and monitor his eating. Our pediatrician said he should be transitioned to milk by 1 year, which is just over 3 weeks away. I'm concerned that he won't get the nutrients he needs with just the milk, though. Does anyone else have a similiar problem? Is anyone using any of the "next step" formulas that are made for babies over a year?

My baby girl eats only table food now...we are in the process of trying to get her completly off of formula...she does really good all day but at night demands her formula...I say just let them eat when they are hungry and let them eat anything that you think is safe and they will not get choked on easily....

My son eats only table food now, won't even touch baby foods. He's even drinking whole milk. I was worried at first that he wasn't eating enough but he lets me know now by dropping the food he doesn't want onto the floor :/ His favorite foods are rice, potatoes, pretty much any veggies, meats, bread, and he loves goldfish :)

My daughter gets quite angry if we dont feed her what we are having - she wont take any alternative offering. She sometimes has jarred food if she needs a top-up but otherwise we dont really bother with the jars anymore...

My daughter Anika's never been a fan of a baby food. From 6 months loves fingerfood and being an independent eater. Loves fruits vegetables and always curious about what we eat. I still breastfeed her, much less now though. Also give her formula and yogurt for calcium:0)

Same here! But I'm also still nursing for naps and ni-night time and throughout the night. And once a day, sometimes, he gets a bottle. Both my kids are eaters, constant eaters:)

My son still eats jarred food with a mix of snacks. Cheerios, yougurt melts etc. then he always wants what I am eating so I share. He has no teeth yet, not a single one but that hasn't really gotten in his way. He LOVED the stuffing on Thanksgiving.

My little girl Alana has since awhile ate jar foods because it was much easier but we haven't been giving her the jar food anymore. She usually will eat now her organic baby yogurt from Stonyfield Farm. She also eats cottage cheese, pieces of whole wheat bread, potatoes mashed, oatmeal, chicken and mum mum's. Trying to get into more vegetables and fruit.

My baby girl's fave foods are green beans, triscuits, bananas and I give her V8 Fusion for her juice. She also likes chicken and turkey, but I read that babies have a hard time processing proteins. I am having a problem getting her to eat baby food. If she can't fed it to herself, she doesn't want it. Anyone using the multivitamin drops? I'm thinking about putting her on those once I wean her off formula...

my son used to be fab at eating, he'd have baby cereal for breakfast, and beans and toast or scrambled egg for lunch and for tea he'd have what we had the night before. lately, he's had a sore throat and lumps in his food seem to make him sick. he's also got his first 2 teeth and wondering if that may have affected his appetite?? he now has a fruit smoothie for breakfast (sometimes a few squares of toast as well), for lunch he'll have a pureed fruit pot, and for tea sometimes nothing!! but yesterday he had a few squares of toast, a few organic wotsits and a couple of biscuit things. not sure how to get him to start eating again.

My daughter has recently been getting sick of her baby food and VERY interested in table foods. we've been giving table foods for awhile along with the baby food, but as of recently she isn't intersted in the baby food at all. we give her everything we eat, she loves it. i do try to sneak baby food in when i can though just b/c i know the vitamins are there and i know how much she is getting. i do find it helpful though to make kaylee her own plate at least...instead of just scooping off mine as we go. its easier to get a handle on how much she's getting.

I give my son baby food from a jar with a mix of table food. I give him anything he wants usually, but I always have baby food on hand if he decides he doesnt want what we are having for dinner. Also for snacks he eats fig newtons, vanilla wafers, or any gerber puffs/ finger foods we have for him.

My girl thinks that my food is SO much more interesting than anything i put on her plate. I've been cutting things up into pieces her little fingers can manage and letting her eat from "my plate." I still feed her food that is in that grey area between baby and toddler aged from her bowl just so i can ensure she's getting enough food, and i've been introducing things like whole cow's milk in her sippy cup as well as some things i don't have to cut up so she gets some practise biting things off. (I found some really great organic toaster (eggo-style) waffles without salt, sugar or other bad stuff, and i let her munch on the whole thing, which is pretty darn cool to her.) She also nurses on demand, which seems to be about 6 to 8 times a day, and i'll continue with that until she's done with me (my guess is at about 2 years.)

I don't think my girl is quite ready to eat only table foods, but when we do finish the switch I have a feeling that if she isn't getting enough food when I give her table food, she'll DEFINITELY let me know! Hehehe.

I have an article that a mom posted a while back that was very helpful to me:

My daughter eats completely table foods now. She just weaned of breastfeeding and is already drinking whole milk. She is doing great and didn't have any problems with any of that. I just make sure that I do the vitamins i her bottle. I think you just need to make sure that you child is getting enough nutrition, if it be in jarred or table food.

My daughter is like your son, she eats jar food and table food that is appropriate for her. On Thanksgiving, I broke up some pieces of turkey and she LOVED it :) She does pretty well with little chunks of stuff, but she only has 2 teeth completely popped through, and 2 barely popped through, so I'm not quited ready to completely switch her.

My son still breastfeeds regularly and eats a bit of whatever we're eating. I give him the stuff from the jar when what his dad and I are having is not appropriate. His favourite foods are plain boiled rice, bananas, rice wafers, avocado, scrambled egg, potatoes, pumpkin, bread.

my daughter has never been a big eater, but i try to feed her jarred food twice a day, as you said it is easier to see how much they're getting, and the rest of the time she eats table food.
