When my daughter turned 1 we immediately took away every bottle but the nite time bottle. Gave her 2 weeks to adjust to that then took that away too. Now all drinks are served up in sippy cups, it doesnt' phase her, and its way easier for us.

Amanda, I think you should cut them off gradually, if you want my opinion. The older he will be the harder the weaning process will be. So, try to cut gradually. I suggest that you cut the hardest one first, and that is the bed-time bottle (If he's putting himself to sleep with it) If he's not a very good solids eater, then keep one bottle but use sippy cup or straw instead. the nipple are not good for them when they grow up.

my mom told me the same thing at 12 months to be off bottle all together but I was questioning her as well. I really do'nt know what to do. He is nearly 13 months now. He still has one before morning nap and afternoon nap and one before bed. I might cut out afternoon one here now and just do a snack and milk from a sippy cup. Seems to relax him though which is why I do it. I thinkin the night time one will be hard :( love reading what all you other moms did! helps!

We tried cutting out the bottle at about 11 months with no sucess it took a very dry cookie on her 1st birthday to get rid of the bottle compleatly. But 1 year is about the right time. Good Luck. You might try the dry cookie mode it works like a charm. LOL

Violet was 1 on the 21st. She has a sippy through out the day and 1 bottle of whole milk at bed. My older 2 daughters gave up bottles at different times 11.5m and 13m. I am waiting for her to decide. She's having a really had time teething at the bottle helps soothe her.

My daughter is 13 months old. She stopped having a bottle throughout the day immediately at 1. She now gets a bottle before her nap, and one before bed, BUT.... we put 5oz of water, 4oz of whole milk and only 2 scoops of formula. I am decreasing the amount of water and formula gradually and increasing the amount of milk that goes into the bottle. Right now, I have narrowed it down to 4oz of water with 5oz of whole milk, and only 1 scoop of formula. I am getting ready to give her sippy cups now and throw out the bottle all together. I don't think she will miss it too much. She only gets two bottles a day so taking her naptime one away and sticking with bedtime only shouldn't be a problem! Good luck and I hope you find a way that works for you!

My daughter has a bottle before bed but has a cup for the rest of the day. I find tht she knows its time for bed when she gets her bottle and it gives us cuddle and relaxing time before she sleeps :)

Doctors say 9 months because so many babies start messing up their teeth when on the bottle to long. I have seen it happen to other babies and did not want rotten brown teeth so Caitlyn stopped at 9 and a half months . I just put her milk in a soft nipple sippy cup and we never looked back...

My son turned 1 on Dec 2nd and he was still having 2 bottles a day right up until Christmas but then got poorly and every time he tried to suck the teat of the bottle he'd gag so he's been drinking from a beaker ever since and it's going very well. I stopped my eldest son's bottles when he was 1 as well, just by replacing them with whole milk in beaker and he was fine too. Good Luck and I hope it goes well for you too!

1 year is the best age, in my opinion. I wanted my baby to learn how to eat solid foods on her own instead of holding a bottle for satisfaction. I noticed that she would drink more than she needs, just because she enjoys sucking it. Now she's 1 yr and 1 month and she drinks 2 cups a day of whole milk, and eats three meals a day and one snack. I stopped the bottle at 11.5 and now she doesn't even miss it.

my son turned one on the 11th. i first let him still have his bottle for a week at naps and bedtime then took out the nap time bottle and only did night bottle and then after a couple days of bed time bottle i only gave him sippy cups and right before bed and naps i would offer him his cup before i laid him down and he seemed to transition very well. hope that helps you.

My youngest daughter turned 1 on dec 19th, and she only had a bottle for about 4 months, she was strictly on the breast until she was 3 months then i started her on a sippy cup at 6 months and at 7 months she was completely over the bottle. A good way for the transition from bottle to sippy is get the nuk sippy cups with the handles and silicon cover, that way it kinda has the same feel as the bottle so he still feels comfortable

Hi, my daughter was also 1 on dec 20th. We cut out her morning bottle, and at lunch time give her milk in a new sippy cup. She still has her formula bottle after dinner before she goes to bed. She hasn't seemed to miss them at all though I have missed the cuddle time with her. Hope this helps, I have been told through all my children that by 12 months they should be concenrating more on food than milk...Good Luck
