This kinda got started in another post so I just thought I would continue it. I have 2 little boys, Daniel Jay and Steven Robert. We like more traditional names but because my husband's family is so big it was really hard coming up with names that we liked and that weren't used a lot. There are Johns, Williams, Roberts, micheals, all names that I love but that are so commonly used in his family.

For middle names we use family names. Jay comes from my moms middle name Jaye.(She passed away in a car accident 4 years ago). We dropped the 'e' to make it fitting for a boy. Robert is from my MIL's family (her father and my BIL). #3 will have a middle name from my dad's side of the family. The choices for boys are Gordon, Kevin and Peter. Girls are Marie, Sylvia, and Sarah. We really don't have any first names picked out yet, we usually have some ideas and once we know what we are having then we decide.

Does any one else have naming patterns/traditions that they use when naming their children? And what names do you love/hate? I love thinking about baby names and love to hear reasons/stories of why you named your children what you did.

Oh Stephanie that is too funny! My name is Jacqueline Lee LOL! Ad I chose my little brothers name when I was 11. I named him Marcus :0)

My husband likes King and has liked King since the day he we joked about it not to long after finding out we were pregnant. So he has been stuck on King. Finally I came up with Kingslee a while back playing game names with my sister a while back. I said somthing to my husband and he didnt like it. However just recently his sister said Kingslee and then all of a sudden its a good name.... I like Ryder. It sounds OK. I am only 22 weeks so thankfully we have time. Since we cant agree on on a good name. Oh he also likes.... wait for it.... Cash King :0/..... guess who probably wont be naming the baby haha

Charlotte's kindergym teacher has a little boy called Rylan, but that might be too close to Ryan.

well, our daughter's name just popped into my husband's head as a 'nice' name and I liked it so went with it, the middle name, however took me ages to decide. It cam down to Joy or Grace, and my friend and I were pregnant at the same time but she gave birth before me and used Joy for her daughter Olivia Joy, so I went with Charlotte Grace.

This one is going to be Fleurenne or Florenne, can't decide. Also can't decide if it will have the emphasis on the first or second sylable. I made this name up from the Goddess of Flowers (I love gardening) and put a french twist on it to match Charlotte's name. No idea for second name, I want to use Grace again and my husband thinks that's weird.
For a boy? NO idea, we've been referring to our imaginary boy for years as Little Jonny, but now it's time to maybe call him Johnathan, my husband's going off it a bit. What ever we choose, his middle name will be Courage. I just like it.

Rosana, maybe you could give the boy your husbands dad's middle name if its a good name. Or give in on the middle name and make it Luis.... It's a thought

If we have a girl we are going to name her Lillian Rose Gayle. Gayle after my Uncle Gale (Dad's brother) who passed away when I was only 9 yrs old, Lillian after his widow, and Rose after my boyfriend's mother's last name.

Now if we have a boy, it will be Remmington Gale. Gale, again after my Uncle Gale, and Remmington, because a co-worker suggested it when we didn't have a clue what to name a boy that we both liked.

We named our first Daughter Mackenzie Ann ,,, Ann is my Moms middle name as well as his sisters and a few other family members...MAS her initals are the same as his moms... We named our second Daughter Dakota Grace ...DGS is his dads initals...and i just liked the name..this baby will be our last no matter what...so i was thinking of using our first initals for the name KCS or CKS...anything but his name choice of Duke for a boy...i just cant do it and as many arguements weve had over it he is still stuck on it...but i will not name a baby duke...i had a dog growing up from like 2-16 years old named duke so its not working for me....other than that i have no idea until the sex is determined....all the names i really like start with a M or a D and i dont want one kid left out...but as i told him, i push, i feed, i have sleepless nights, i sign the birthcertificate so no need to argue LOL

Our daughter is Rylee, Ry for daddy's first name and Lee is my middle name (also a family name). My mom gave her her middle name Daelynm (day-Lynn) because it adds a girly touch to her name. We names our son Ryan after daddy, but I hate my finances middle name. I liked Lliam so I altered it fit my middle name Leeham.

I hate the name Gertrude! Lol!

We are Mexicans so we both want names that everyone can pronounce LOL. I will definitely not name him/her Maria, Jose, Jesus, or Guadalupe. Those names are too popular and I don't like them anyways. If we have a girl, I love the name Sofia. If its a boy, my husband wants to name him after him Luis (its also his dad's name and he passed away two years ago). My brother in-law's name is Luis also so I am not very happy about having a third Luis in the family. I do feel how much he misses his dad so I had to give in.

I prefer not to add a middle name, but we'll see.

We are traditional, classics ourselves. Our names come from a faith and family base
It drives me bananas that people think that by naming their child something unique or spelling it differently, it will make their child special, and they just make stuff up.
