I have a 6 m old boy i am considering trying EC with him. So i was wondering how does EC work at night? Our 6m old sleeps through the night. i am sure he will not hold it for 11 hours. And i would really like to not mess with his sleep. So the question is for moms that are pros at EC. what do u do at night? Diapers? If u use diapers does it create confusion for the baby? We wanted to combine ECing with teaching sign language and start it next month when he is 7m. I feel that these 2 things could compliment each. We did sign language with our first child (she is 2 y old now) and it really worked out. We are now potty training her and i just thought that it would be helpful to teach them to go on the potty at the same time... Any advice or comments are very very appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I started ECing my son 3 weeks ago, he is almost 6 months old now, and I have had pretty good luck with ecing at night. when he fist stirs i pee him, then nurse him back to sleep. usually this is 3-4 times during the night, then he pees lots when he first wakes up in the morning.

I did/do EC at night with both my boys. I had more success with ds1 during the night than I do with ds2. Maybe it's because I'm more worn out this time. Anyway, my ds sleeps next to me on a waterproof pad, wearing a prefold tucked in a diaper belt. It's easier than undoing and doing a diaper in the middle of the night. And basically what I do is, when he starts to squirm and it wakes me up, I potty him. Nurse back to sleep. Sometimes I wake up in time, sometimes I don't. I just catch what I catch.

This is something I have also been struggling with. My 6 month old does not sleep throught the night yet. I put him in a diaper and potty him when he wakes to eat but he still pees a lot in the morning. I think it's because he plays in his crib in the morning and I don't wake up until he calls out for me. It doesn't seem to affect how we do during the day though. He mostly hits the potty with both his pees and poops. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Good luck with starting, it's a great thing to do.
