Anyone else here have a red haired child or children??

I have two redheads a boy and a girl they are two years apart. My son thinks his red hair is no big deal he could care less but my daughter they are both teens loves her hair and I can say I do not blame her It is very long past her waist and is long curls. Everywhere we go people stop and tell her it is beautiful and cannot stop raving about it. We live in Los Angeles (Burbank) When at Universal Studios people from Japan always ask to take pictures with her because of her hair. My kids have very fair skin as do the majority of red heads but no freckles what is very rare is we are hispanic I am very fair with dark brown hair I am Mexican their father has black hair and is dark skin and is from Guatamala I read that to have a redhead both parents must have the red hair gene. So you just never know red hair can show up anywhere. I also read that red heads eye color most common will be blue and that brown is very uncommon. My daughters were blue gray and are now green, amber and blue a blend of three colors and my sons are brown. Bottom line is red heads do get a lot of attention!

My middle daughter is a redhead and has faced many challenges. The fair skin still causes issues with sun sensitivity {just say sun and her skin turns pink} and allergies. She was allergic to the plastic in diapers when she was a baby, the plastic in feminine pads still causes a rash, the neoprene in her knee brace when she was injured playing soccer... As a teen she was teased for her red hair but she is proud of it now that she is 30. Guess it took her a while.

I have a beautiful 12 year old son with curly brown hair and a gorgeous 4 year old girl with curly red hair. They both receive A LOT of attention from everyone! But now my daughter, who is what they class as a typical red head, is NOT modest! My son just says "thank you". My daughter uses it to her advantage. I don't know if it's being a girl or a red head but she can turn "it" on and off suiting her needs for the day! It's amazing to watch. It's sad to say she can read her crowd but I want to think this will be beneficial in the future, as she's a girl.

My little Girl is 3 and 1/2 she was born May 11th, 2006. She is my pride and joy. Her coloris so unique she is noticed were ever he goes. I get a lot of questions from strangers if she is a model.

I have a daughter who was born May 6, 1997. She has strawberry-blonde hair. I dont really know where she got it because all her grand-parents had/have dark hair. Her dad & I are both naturally blonde. My mom says she probably got it from my aunt who had strawberry-blonde hair when she was little. The thing about it is, she hates her hair color. I tell her it looks good with her blue eyes. She's stuck with it. My younger children both have blonde hair. She wishes she wasn't the odd-ball.

I have three children and only one of them is a red head. My oldest child, Tyler, who is 10 now has red hair. I have red hair also, but my 6 year old has a variety of color in her hair, it was blond when she was younger, but now she has natural brown and red highlights. My youngest who is almost 10 months has mood hair. Some days it's blond, others its red. I have to wait a while before finding out his true color. Both my sisters youngest boys have red hair. The youngest has very red curly hair, it's so cute.

Two out of 5 of my kiddos is a red-head! My son is not happy about his hair color, but my 6 yer old gets told all the time that her hair color is beautiful!

my last child of 4 is a beautiful red head and yes it is wonderful but I have also found the difference in her temperment compared to the other children. I say it is the red hair! LOL.

My son, Elijah, has red hair. He's the only one of the trips who got it... funny because the hubby and I have dark brown hair. He must have got it from my side of the family. My two sisters have red hair. He looks more like their kid then mine. lol

It is defiantly a special thing to have a red headed child. I never imagined (being a dark brunette) that I would have ever had a red head.
While I was crowning in the hospital waiting for the dr to show up, the nurse was genteelly twirling the curl on top of my daughters head. "I think she's a red head" she said in a singsong voice. No way I thought. I mean I do have red headed cousins but I had never imagined my own children with anything but dark curly hair. Sure enough, she came out with a beautiful thick head of curly red hair.
From that day forward I/we became part of the secret "red hair club" that I never new existed. Everywhere we went I would get stopped by on-lookers saying oh my, what a beautiful baby! Thinking that this must happen to every mother of small children I never put too much thought into it. Until, I was shopping with a friend of mine with 2 beautiful blonde toddler girls. She was shocked at how many people stopped us to comment about the red hair. We made a game out of trying to go into just one store without getting noticed. It never happened.
It's usually fun to have everyone else justify my biased mommy opinion of having the prettiest little girl around. But I dare say it gets a bit frustrating when the trips to Wal-Mart take an extra 30 minutes with stories of "Oh my daughter/niece/granddaughter had red hair when she was little too"
She does enjoy all the attention and I even think it has helped her overcome any shyness that most young kids have. We celebrate her unique feature and hopefully this will help to set the tone of future self esteem.

No , don't but I think they are so beautiful! Lucky you! In college I went to Japan with a girlfriend who is a redhead and people openly started and actually came up to touched her hair as so many of them had never seen a redhead before!

Two out of my four children have red hair. I think this is a good idea :) & I have a friend who has two daughters with red hair so I will also let her know :)
