I love my Cannon G10. The pictures are excellent. You can use it as a point and shoot or make all the adjustments yourself. It is not tiny, but will fit in a purse. It is not very heavy and has a great zoom. My pocket camera is an impact and water proof minolta but indoor pictures are grainy. I like it because I can let the kids "borrow it"

I use the Exilim. it is small and takes great pics and videos. plus most ppl don't know how to delete a picture from it, so if i take one they don't like they can't delete it when I am not looking. I had a Nikon camera before this one and was always waiting for it to take the picture and then half the time the pic came out blurry. This camera has a best shot and an anti shake feature that I love. Good luck!

I have an olypmus E-420. it's the smallest dslr there is, but like everyone else has said they are quite bulky. But with any point and shoot there are missed opportunities. It's just a matter of brand prefference.I tend to stick with olympus!

We've just recently bought the Canon 500D SLR...Amazing!...Bit expensive, but well worth it. All the shots that we've taken that we would've missed out on with our little digital camera just doesn't compare...Just need to do a little course now to get the most out of it.

I have the fujifilm finepix s100fs its a bridging camera, it is a didgital camera with a lot of the features of the SLR..It has a baby mode on it & I love it because I dont have to carry any lenses around...It has a zoom lens...It also takes videos which is a feature you will not get with a normal SLR...It has super macro which means I can take photo's of my baby from about 1cm away & it picks up every single tiny detail...every tiny baby hair & every single eyelash is so clear & in focus...Fantastic camera I cant recommend it highly enough! :o)

I was always a fan of the Sony Cybershot line, but the last one I purchased has been somewhat of a disappointment.
Possibly because I have a Nikon D50 now that I absolutely love and swear by. For the price, I'd say Nikon is the digital SLR to get. Sure Canon is great, but you're paying for the name when you buy one.
I like to keep both a DSLR and a point-n-shoot handy because obviously you cannot keep that SLR in your purse or pocket all the time! I think my next point n shoot will be a Nikon Coolpix. I've heard great things about them. :)

I love my Canon PowerShotSX1101S! My husband bought it for me to replace a Kodak Easy Share. Got it on a Tuesday and left for New York on Thursday. While there I snapped over 1000 shots in 4 days. Did it on auto setting. Only had 3 bad pix because I was riding on the top of an open bus touring the city. It is easy, easy, easy. Does video also if you want. Has manual settings if you want to adjustit and flash. Has 9.0 megapixels and 10x optical zoom. Used it a few weeks ago for a musical my daughter was performing in. Had several people tell me my pictures were as good as the professional photographer on site. One picture was made into an 11x14 and had framed for her room. Another Mom wants one for her daughter also. Highly recommend this camera for anyone.

I don't know what type camera you have now, but I have a Cannon Rebel DSLR and if you adjust the shutter speed on your camera it will take faster pics. It should tell you in your manual how to do it. I love my Cannon even though it isn't small. I hope this helps!

i just spent a hour in a best buy yesterday trying to decide which camera to buy myself. after speaking with a very knowledgeable and amateur photographer employee telling him what i needed the camera for ,which was to take pictures of my 3 grandchildren who are 8,2,& 1 and never sit still. he sold me on the Nikon d60,so i bought it put it together in the car headed to the beach with 2 of the kids, turned them loose in the sand and they were all over the place not once sitting still and every shot came out perfect, the shutter speed is great, didn't miss any perfect moments. i love this camera.

I have a Nikon D90 and I love any chance to brag about it! It's bulky but I take it everywhere. My only problem is the manual wasn't very helpful with learning how to use it but I have found a lot of extra info doing searches on Google! I really shopped around before buying also.

I just got my first DSLR, the Nikon D60 and I looooooove it. I did a lot of shopping around and asked a lot of questions. I found that the Nikon has a lot of editing and extra features. It takes action shots very well and the colors are very bright and vivid.

My husband bought me a Canon PowerShot S3IS in 07 and I've loved every minute of it. Have probably taken over 2,000 pics with it. I love having the different settings to choose from and it has a 12x zoom; can't remember the pixels. .

I even took pics while my husband was driving and those even turned out great. nice sized for me- put in my pocket and get ready for cute moments.

I was really impressed with Fuji Finepix S5200. It is a bit big, super user friendly, 12x optical zoom and video clip. I was really happy with the quality and colour if the pictures. I now have a Canon Rebel XTi. I miss not having the video clip, it is still a biggar camera and the portrait setting works really well!

I also have the Kodak Z712 IS and am very happy with it! It's lightweight and not heavy unlike the DSLRs, but if you're just looking for videoclips and quality pics with various modes, this will do. I always bring it with me to my son's baseball league games. And if you want to, you can add the lens to it too for further zoom.

The Kodak Z710 is really easy to use and not quite as big as the DSLRs everyone is referencing. They are definitely not the cell phone size, throw in the purse camera; they are considered SLRs and have the options to change the modes for the scenes including catching the action shots (my son plays basketball, soccer and baseball). The Z710 is 7.1 MP with an optical zoom of 12X. When you are looking for a camera, make sure to look at the optical zoom so you will have a better quality image when you need to zoom.

Well out of all the small cameras I've had, I just set my camera setting to either a sports setting or continous shot (where it shoots three or five pictures in a row). I usually never miss a second with those settings.

If your looking for a camera with exceptional picture quality you would really need to consider a DSLR and I guess that would be the compromise ( a bigger bulkier unit rather than a compact easy to fit anywhere camera BUT there is a huge difference in picture quality between a DSLR and compact camera). I personally have a Canon 450D, my very first DSLR camera and I am very inexperienced but they are easy to use and I they produce gorgeous pics. The other brand I would consider would be a Nikon they are a little cheaper than Canon in price point but very good quality also.

I have the Nikon D50, which I absolutely love. It takes awesome pictures with little to no effort if you use the pre-programmed modes. I also have a Canon A85, which is much smaller for when I don't want to take the D50. It takes nice pictures, but it no where near the quality of the D50, especially with action shots and close ups.

I know that Canons are really good but really expensive. I got a Nikon (the one with cool pix ) and it works great. WAAAAY better than the Sony I had. I tested it out when we went to a WWE Wrestling event with my son. I took both cameras and even tho the arena was pretty dark and we were in the 2nd level, I still got some great pictures and they turned out really really good with my Nikon. I my my Nikon for 80 bucks on sale at Target. It was originally 140 but really worth the price. It is very easy to use and software that comes with it is very very simple to install and use to download onto your computer. I highly recommend it.

I love canon! My husband has the Canon 30D and I have the Canon xsi 450d we both love our cameras for different reasons. I like mine because it's light and easy to use. My husband likes his because it larger for his hands and he like all the features it has. If he was going to buy again he is going to go into the 5d or bigger.
Quoting Carrie:
There is a new one coming out that I want by Canon EOS 500D / Rebel T1i DSLR it looks awesome because it can take video clips and it's a digital SLR. It bridges the gap between the Canon XSI and the Canon50D. Currently I have the older Canon Rebel 300D got it 4 years ago when my daughter was born and our regular digital camera and couldn't take a focused picture of her while she was moving. It's been great but lacks the video clip. Haven't found a small one that I like though.

We have a Nikon DSLR for those calculated shots and a Panasonic Lumix for our small "everyday" camera. I LOVE the Lumix. I go through small cameras like they're disposable because I'm very discerning with photo quality...but I can't praise this little guy enough and I've finally stopped my quest.

I have a canon rebel. It's not really what you would consider a small camera that you can just throw in your purse and go tho. It's a bit bulkier, but the picture quality is AWESOME, and there is no delay. I wouldnt' trade it for nothing!
Then I also have a small HP digi camera. The delay of course is slower, but it still takes really good pictures. It's my purse camera. :)
I know most store wesbites have details about camera, and the delay, and all that good stuff. You may try checking out like Best Buy, or Circuit City website to see if you can find what your looking for! :)
Good Luck!
