In Photoshop its really simple - Desaturate the image then use the history brush tool where you want to have color

OMG! Do I have a program for you. I am 57 and have been using Picasa 3 for years. You can get rid of red eye, crop photos, change them to black and white or sepia, then save them to a folder and undo the changes and you have both of the images to keep. They also have a feature where you can take a photo and make it black and white but keep one element color. I have done this with my great neice and a flower she is holding. The best part is that this program is so user friendly and free. I have tried a lot of the rest of them and most are more involved or they take a lot more memory on your computer. Just try it and if you dont like it you can always uninstall it. I take about 200+ photos of each of my son's rugby matches. I then come home and crop about 100 more photos out of the originals. If you want to see some of the quality editing I have a flickr account you can look at http://www.flickr.com/photos/qtpi52/
I know you will love this program. qtpi52@cox.net

Same here, I use Photoshop or Image ready, I am pretty sure that any software given with a good digital camera should have the option where you can turn your pic B&W and then colorise the eyes blue again using the brush tool. Just make sure you set the opacity down to @40% so it looks natural.

I use Paint.Net (http://www.getpaint.net/download.html#do...) It is a free download and a great graphics software.

Layer your photos in Paint.Net and have the color layer below the black and white layer. Use the eraser tool and start erasing in the black and white later what you want to be colorized. Hope this helps.

This was done with the same idea, with a texture added.

I am in no way expert in PHOTOSHOP , so this is how I did what she wanted, there are for sure at least 5 other ways of doing it. And this is what is great about Photoshop. But yes, it is a professional editing program and it requires its time to get the hang of it.

Photoshop CS4, select his eyes, invert, and you will only be messing with black/white for the selection other than his eyes. If his eyes are already the blue your looking for then you flatten your image so you can bring it out of Photoshop and your done. If you need to change the eye color, you have many options in Photoshop. If you are actually looking for a photo editing software, you can ask any professional or semi professional and they will tell you Photoshop is the way to go. If you were to get it, I would recommend UNDERSTANDING ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4 written by Richard Harrington. It comes with podcasts. Many are intimidated by the program because they don't know how to use it, Adobe makes it very easy to learn. If you know any students, they can get it at a discount price of almost three quarters to half price. Best of luck.

Hi there go get photoshop! there are many versions of it but I recomend Photoshop elements 7, it's great for beginners and will do just about every thing the other versions do at 1/6 th the price. You can find tutorial on websites like youtube that will teach you how to do diff. things within the program.
And it's much easier then the way the first response told you. In Photoshop 7 you do not need to go through as many steps and use all the layers!

Creative Memories' Memory Manager 3.0 allows all kinds of editing and I have done something quite similar to what you are talking about (not the eyes, but kept another element in color and turned the rest of the pic B&W)

I can do it with Photoshop with 2 different layers. First layer > dessaturate , second layer > adjust color. Go back to first layer, than take the eraser and erase the pulpils so that the color from the second layer show up. Blend both layers. :) If you don't have photoshop, send pic over , I'll do it for you ... cheers
