Hey there everyone! I hate to be the "scrapping police" here lol and maybe I'm even taking you the wrong way here, but you mentioned photobucket in your list of favs, so I just wanted to put this out there...Be careful if you download any "backgrounds" for digital scrapbooking. Often I've found that they are really pieces of a digital scrap kit that a designer made and there are terms of use on those graphics. Usually part of those tou's are not to share the graphics with others but to direct them to the designer's shop instead to purchase them. I've seen lots of papers on there from the Shabby Shoppe and 3peas and stuff. Basically if you can't find a tou on the graphics you are downloading, it's best to just not do it. Lots of times someone else got the kit and thought they would just upload it to photobucket. They may have even been doing it for their own personal use for making their webpage or blog or something. But then their account wasn't set to private and someone else grabbed it and someone else and someone else and well...ya know what I'm saying! IDK, I was a designer and I know what it feels like to have someone steal your designs and give them away or sell them for their own benefit--it sucks!
Anyhow, sorry to be the damper on the party here! It's awesome you are all getting into digital--it is sooo much fun and there are so many great online communities to join! If you want to scrap for free, or nearly free, there are free programs you can get to help you make layouts..paint.net and gimp are the most popular. And you can find lots of free samples from designers at digifree and digiscrapdepot! Woooot! Freebies are great!

have you ever tried the website Flickr, I love it and it's a safe place to back your photos up at, just a thought! www.Flickr.com you can store the 1st 200 photos free and they have lots of knowlegable photographer you can ask questions of.

Marlena ~ I also love to digiscrap, and stamp and do traditional scrapping as well. I'm a grandma (NaeNae pronounced nAnA) I have a question for you about this site (and probably the others you mention as well) can you print the pages yourself or do they require you have them print at a fee?? How does the printing aspect work with these sites?

I have a photobucket account but have never used the other 2. Will check them out. My daughter is also a member of circle of moms and does lots of stuff with photos of her 3 children. My daughter is 28. We lost her twin sister to Inflammatory Breast Cancer 5 1/2 yrs ago.

There is another great free site we use. Its www.cropmom.com and its awesome. Once you have made your layout you can download it onto your computer and if you want you could purchase print quality with credits. We only create the layouts and download them onto our pc and put them on fb. Its a good way to send them to family as well. No need to download any software. We do also have one more http://www.scrapbookflair.com/ but we think http://www.cropmom.com/ is much better. Let us know if you try them and what you think.

Ive found picnik.com is pretty fun too.. sometimes you have to pay for certain additives but the basics are alot of fun

Thanks so very VERY much!!! I've been on the search for sites like these for what seems like forever! I'm totally new to the whole scrapbooking thing, but have wanted to for a long time. Though I've always wanted to do it via computer but the software is so expensive that you have to buy. This solves my whole dilemma! Thanks again! **hugs**

yes i use smilebox too although it's not completely free. If you want printables you have to pay a minimal fee

Everytime some puts on free websites it helps. Thank you so much. I love scrap booking but seldom find the time to do it. My husband and I raise our 3 year old granddaughter and have had her since 4 months old. The other grandparents and us are the best of friends. Christmas and all other occasions are always spent together so can become costly, last year I suggested that we should just create a scrapbook page for each other any topic (well you can guess who it is about) this has been time consuming hard and yet very thoughtful and fun. I love new editing programs. Thanks
