Hi Rachelle! I am a master designer with an online publishing company that in my biased opinion feel there is nothing out there like it!! They have it all from designing to printing! The drag and drop design studio is already integrated with 50,000+ pieces of FREE keyword searchable designer artwork categorized in thousands of matching collections (would cost over $5000 to download yourself but you get it free)! It also has FREE unlimited high resolution photo storage that I can download back to my computer at any time so all of my pictures are ready for me to drag and drop and place where I want them on the page! The design stdudio is just like traditional scrapbooking where I can create the page like I want to and not be stuck with a template that I can't change! However it also includes almost 5,000 professionally pre-designed templates that ARE changeable so if you don't like an embellishment on the page you can delete it..move it, add more art..and change background papers and colors to your liking..etc! When you are done with your project (scrapbook pages, hardbound books, gallery wrapped canvas prints, greeting cards, invites, posters, calendars, cookbooks and more)..you simply push a button and it's professionally printed and delivered to your door in a week. I have never come across products with better quality that too make me cry when I get them back! They use only the highest archival quality materials with superior digital printing and everything they offer is gorgeous!! I like their customizable 12x12 postbound album that come with page protectors and then I make their 12x12 scrapbook pages and insert them! The only thing you pay for is professional printing! So for just $3 per scrapbook page..I get all the artwork I could ever need (more collections added every month), an unbelievable design studio and professional printing for one low price!!

I have included samples of things I have created with our studio..Again..you can create them on your own or use these as templates and simply drop in your photo's and add your text but still have the freedom to change anything about it that you don't like:

Please feel free to contact me and I'll get on a quick webinar with you and teach you designing tips and help you get started with your digital scrapbooking (no charge of course)..you are going to fall in love with this easy, fast and fun solution to digital scrapbooking!

I had Creative memories on my PC - made an album and like it. I just bought a Mac and don't really feel like doing the portioning to be able to run CM on my mac - Im very capable, but I would like to know what is similar to CM in the things the program does, iscrapbook seems like a good program, similar in function. ANY opinions for me? I don't want to spend $40 and then hate scrapbook.
thanks

Howdy!

My Digital Studio! (Disclosure: I'm a Stampin' Up! independent demonstrator!). I used to use the Creative Memories digital program, and it is indeed a good program, but I personally didn't love the paper patterns and colors - hey, everyone has their preferences. I use Stampin' Up! coordinating paper & ink colors for my paper scrapbooking and card-making, and am now a HUGE fan of SU's My Digital Studio digital software as it has the same great colors! I love lots of things about it:
- there are sets of colors that match each other (no more guessing at whether the colors will clash like in paper crafting); this also makes it easy to do hybrid projects (combining traditional AND digital!) and have the colors match
- it is intuitive software - very easy to use - fast to get comfortable with the basics and you can also delve into more advanced stuff
- digital scrapbooking is FASTER!
- there are lots of templates where you can just drop in your pictures, add text and it's ready to print
- print at home or use our professional printing service
- it comes stuffed full of paper patterns, stamp brush sets, embellishments and templates - but there are inexpensive digital downloads released virtually every week to suit your needs
- you can make scrapbook pages, whole photobooks, calendars, greeting cards, video shows, multi-media projects...

We have a 30 day free trial available to download, and I am offering a free training program that goes along with it! In 30 days you can make an entire photobook. Please check it out at www.carolGpapercrafts.com

Hi, I would like to try my hand at making vintage looking backgrounds - the kind you see on ETSY i.e. a postcard of a vintage lady, victorian roses around the picture, lace & ribbons strewn over the print, but I have no idea what kind of program I should be using? Can anyone help me please. I would need a simple, easy to use program if possible. Looking forward to hearing from some kind soul :)

I also use Digital Scrapbook Delux. Another one i like to use is Inkscape. It is a free graphics program that you can download from the internet. Many of the graphics you create can be exported and saved to use in your other digital scrapbook program. And its FREE!! You can also find Youtube tutorial for the program that tell you how to do different graphics and they are step by step directions.

Look in the directory for the brand name of the scanner or type it into the search area. If that doesn't work, go to the website of the scanner - they all have help & support areas. And after all of your pictures are scanned, check out www.focusonfotos.com for a great way to enjoy your pictures!

And it's secure - you upload your pictures, use templates, customize them and publish - they are mailed to your door! And more than books - there are cards, calendars, canvas posters, etc. www.focusonfotos.com

I use Studio J, Close to My Heart's Online Digital Scrapbooking program. I love it because I can either go with the uploaded page, add pics and be done, or I can get more elaborate and do more customization. I also like that I don't have to take up any room on my hard drive because it's all online...I can start it on my PC and then finish it on my laptop while on vacation. There are no additional downloads, etc. Love that I can play for free and don't pay until I print. In September they are intorducing a membership that brings the price per 12 x 12 layout down to around $6 with free shipping, jpegs, page protectors, etc. Yep, I'm a consultant, and I love it. Let me know if you have questions.

Smilebox and print from Shutterfly

Picaboo

Photoshop for all photo editing and text creation.

Tips: sometimes, the photos will speak for themselves; don't feel chained to a lot of embellishment for everything. Bridal, Wedding, Engagements done by a professional photographer should probably just be left alone and can stand very well (and elegantly) by themselves. Family trips, holidays and school memory albums are where I go bananas with embellishments! :)

I use picnick.com - it's a free photo editing site - there are some options for creating collages that are free. Many of the best things on there are with a premium membership - however, I had a free membership first, I had it for 3 days and LOVED it for photo editing, then I bought premium for a year it's $24.95 for a whole year - you can get a lot done in that time! You can also buy it by the month or 6 months - lots of options! Good luck - I have photoshop, but I'm afraid of it, and I like the templates!

I've tried several and Adobe Photo Shop (PS) Elements V8 is the absolute best. Lots of flexibility, power to create your own everything or a perfect place to order digital supplies is ScrapGirls.com. Depending upon your computer, PS can crash and shut down on a PC (MS) but works flawlessly with no problems on a Mac. It does it all!

Also a Creative Memories consultant. Love Storybook Creator, you can do some of the same things you can do with Photoshop. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to do things in Photoshop, but the CM software is easy.

There are tons of tutorials and support for the product on their website, free downloads, and even a FREE trial version of the software, so you can check it out.

I don't create my own scrapbook sets or anything, and I orginally started out with paper scrapbooking, however I came across so many Free digital scrapbooking kits, that I never looked back. I have a family of 5, and times are hard, so I couldn't spend money on software, but I had Microsoft Publisher, and it works for me. I just download kits from blogs, and there are soooo many digital scrapbooking stores that have freebies too. I now have over 40 GB of digital scrapbooking stuff, and I only spent about $20 on some special kits I liked. Some people even have premade pages you can dowload and plop your picture in. LOVE IT. When I need to fix some of the papers, embellishments or my pictures, I use paint.net which is also Free (I love saying that word). It may take some getting used to, but as long as you have 300dpi items for your page, you just have to box the whole page together, then right-click in publisher and choose save as picture. Easy as pie.

I'm not cheap, I'm thrifty :-)

I use Storybook Creator Plus 3.0 from Creative Memories. FYI: I am a Creative Memories Consultant in Rochester, NY. I first use their Memory Manager 3.0 to organize, edit (basic and advanced features), share, and store my 5000+ digital images. Storybook Creator Plus is very easy to use and although a manual is not needed to learn how to use the software, there are easy to follow tutorials on the website. You can create a variety of hard or softcover books, 2 different size page prints, photo panels, mugs, shirts, etc... I created a 12 x 18 calendar that is also page prints for you albums. When the year is up you tear of the top (12 x 12) portion of your calendar and put it right into an album. You can also get free pre-designed pages and free embellishments off of the website. You also get $80 of free artwork with the software. Something to definately check out! You can go to my website under digital scrapbooking and watch "Its a Digital Life" for a great overview.
