I recently found out that I am pregnant with my second child - due around April 20, 2010.

I am currently around 9 weeks and morning sickness is a beast again -
I can't eat anything until mid-afternoonish, except maybe oyster crackers if I'm feeling somewhat ok. I often throw up in the mornings, just because - but water triggers it immediatly.

I get very thirsty, especially in the mornings when I wake up - but water (especially more than a sip and even more so if it's cold) makes me throw up.
This puzzles me...

Anyone else have this problem?
Any suggestions on what to do or drink???

I had the same problem. I lost about 6pounds in 3 weeks and was dehydrated like crazy. I had to start taking Unisom and now I feel like a completely different person. Maybe if nothing helps you just have to talk to your doc. I tried everything. Ginger, crackers etc. and nothing helped

When i was pregnant wiht my daughter i was as sick as you are. I couldn't even drink water. I found eating oranges or watermelon helped. THat way i was getting some fluids and some vitamins, cuz i couldn't eat anything let alone drink. And also if it did come up it didn't taste so bad, lol!!

I found that once my tummy settled a little in the afternoon that having a gaterade popsicle that i had made really helped. I just avoided water all together until my tummy settled because i was more dehydrated in the end if i did try to drink.

I hope that you're morning sickness eases up for you. I had it all 9 months from morning to evening with my last pregnancy, and i dont wish that on anyone.

Here is what I've always done and I've never had morning sickness-
Eat something right before you go to bed even if it is 5 or 6 saltines so you don't wake up with an empty stomach... it makes it worse... or it does for me... ginger ale is good for nausea plus it's light in color and has carbonation which will help you to get somewhat of a full stomach and keep some type of carb by your bed like rice cake or bread and right when you wake up take a small bite and lay there for a few before you get up. I did it with my son when I would begin to feel nauseated and I never threw up although if your mom was really sick when she was pregnant it could be a genetic thing too I know i saw some pregnancy morning sickness medicine in the baby isle at ingles the other day... I didn't look at it but you may want to look into it.

I am the same way. i was told by my OB that water is ery heavy so that is probably why it makes me sick. I have been told to try OJ or even ginger ale if you cn stomach it. I am still throwing up everyday all day and I am 13 weeks. good luck!

That used to happen to me with one of my boys, so I would avoid drinking anything in the morning. I know that Sprite helped make me feel better for some reason. Ginger is supposed to help with nausea, which it always had with me before, but this time around it triggers my morning sickness real badly. Citrus smells help me though. Some teas are good, but I'd do research before drinking any. I know that green tea supposedly blocks folic acid, and there are some other herbal teas that can cause contractions. Babycenter.com has a list of what kind of herbal teas are good and not good. Oh, and oatmeal is also good at helping ease morning sickness. Hope this helps! It's all I can think of at the moment.

water made me really sick too and my aunty said to try orange juice it did help sometimes easing the sick feeling but day to day it changed, so i ended up trying different juices and cordials and just had to work out what was going to suit on that day. Hope it helps you too.
