Does your kid still have a bottle?

My first two (both girls) used pacifiers and drank from a bottle once I stopped nursing. After their first birthday I took the pacifier away and after two days of unhappy nap times they never cried for it again. They only were given the pacifiers at bed and nap time though. After about a month of no pacifier I took the bottle away too. At first they were not happy about milk in a sippy cup but it didn't take long for them to want their milk bad enough and gave inn and drank it. My third baby, a boy, never used a pacifier (he's a thumb sucker-way worse because I can't take it away). But at his one year check up the doctor said to stop using a bottle so we did. Again at first he was was not happy but once he wanted his milk bad enough he took it from the cup. Pacifiers and bottles are bad for their teeth so the earlier we take them away the better, and the younger they are the easier the transition too.

my daughter is having a hard transitition to sippy cups. she will drink from a cup but not a sippy. I am slowly taking the pacifier away as much as possible. I bought a sippy cup that has a straw. I give her the "sippy cup" ever meal and she is finally getting the hang of it. She is still drinking from a bottle but working on the "sippy cup." I had to learn patience with it. I hope this helps

My daughter refuses to drink out of a sippy cup, though we are trying hard to wean her off of bottles and on to sippy cups. No matter what she's drinking out of, she refuses to hold the bottle/cup and doesn't depend on them to fall asleep. She's a binky girl. If she doesn't have her binky, she's not going to sleep. Period. lol. We are just now trying to get her off of formula and used to drinking whole milk, so her last liquid feeding is usually around 6:30 and then we let her play a bit longer, give her a bath, and rock her for a bit (with binky, of course) and place her in the crib with droopy eyes and she's out within 5 mins. I read that lots of moms put their babies to bed with a bottle/sippy cup, but my daughter isn't that kind of girl apparently. =D Maybe you could try only giving her a binky to fall asleep during naps during the day and then transition to binkys only for sleeping to wean her off of sippy cups. That way she'll kick the habit and will feel better since she won't be as gassy. Let us know what you try and what ultimately works. Good luck!
