17 wks old....how can I start getting her from breast onto formula?

I breastfeed my lil girl Maisie-Rae, and do enjoy it. But I want to start weaning her onto a bit of formula milk. She will take expressed milk out of a bottle, but no matter how hungry will not take formula.
I just want to start giving her a bottle of formula at bedtime.
When I had my son, hes 3 now, he took a formula bottle at bedtime no problems.
She is only waking once at night between 4 and 5am, from about 10pm, but would like her to have formula to hopefully get her to sleep right thru.
Can I do an expressed bottle, with say an ounce of formula mixed, and gradually add more formula than breast so she gets used to it??
Ive just started giving her a bit of baby rice, and she has this mixed with formula fine.
Any tips would be really helpful

Got the new feeding spoon u can mix milk an cereal in...tried her tonight an she loved it, so problem solved....thank u

Forgive me but I do not understand why you would want to change to formula....breastmilk is FREE and so much more nutritious. I would personally mix breastmilk with a little bit of cereal in a bottle before bed to help him sleep longer, rather than switch to formula. That's just my opinon though.

you can give her a mixed formula or you could water down the formula. all i can say your doing a good job. no matter what your baby will be hungry and she will start drinking formula when she knows she needs to. i always say it takes up to 3 days for a baby to get use to change. so anything is possible.

No but she still wakes up bout 4am, an with a toddler im shattered. With my son i gave him formula as his last bottle, an he slept thru.
Just wanted to give her one formula feed a day, so hubby can help out too.

. i got an article in the mail and it gave me a website. www.gerber.com/transition. try this out it explains how to go from breastfeeding to formula. but i do have a question... why would you want to take her off the breast. are you in the situation where you work 3rd shift.?
