I started potty training my son. I show him this potty for him tape. It's a cartoon and he sits on his potty watching it. He has peed in the potty twice this week and I've been showing him the tape this week.

I started my now 3 yr old once he was old enough to sit by himself Mainly to get him familiar with sitting on it he would scream when he had done poo's in his nappy so I knew it was time to get serious about training. I think he would have been trained earlier if I hadn't been so pregnant & sick. he was completely toilet trained day & night by 2 my dd is now 14 mths & I've been doing The same with her she doesnt seem as interested in it as my son was but I'm going to keep doin what I'm doing 1st thing in the morning as soon as she wakes & b4 she goes to bed if she doesn't go that's ok but at least she is use to sitting on the potty. I as told by the Dr with my son that he was being potty trained to early as boys r slower but if ur child shows interest why not do it early every child is different

Just had our one-year check-up and the doctor said to defer it for now. It makes me feel better that the pediatrician said it's too early to start. Although, I did catch a pee-pee moment after a nap and my son did go on the potty, but I think it was one of those "once in a lifetime events" lol. I'm definitely not going to spend too much energy trying to push him to get trained. He'll do it when he's ready =)

I am not really potty training my one year old daughter, but she always wants to follow me in the bathroom, so I put the little potty in there (already had one from when my son was potty training, he trained at 2-1/2 years), and let her sit there when I go potty. She loves it because she feels like a big girl like Mommy. She doesn't go pee in there or anything, just sits and smiles for a few minutes. When I had her naked for a bath last night and she started peeing on the floor, I got her on the potty real quick and we got a little in there, but I don't expect her to learn anything from that yet.

Thanks girls! I had been doing research on EC (elimination communication). I was looking at other mothers who train their 6 month olds to do potty time in a training toilet instead of their diapers. I've been trying to train my daughter this way, with little success. I think she's too smart now :D she knows she can poop and play at the same time! Ha! or maybe she's not ready...

I did a little research last night, and I agree that it is too early. Most children are potty trained between 2 and 3 years of age. I am waiting until he's ready. I'll know when that is because I am the mommy =)

I have the same question. I feel like my 13 month old son is not ready to start yet, but my mom thinks he should start now.
