It is not 'very bad' to let them sip on juice. It is fine as long as it is diluted and in moderation. Pretty much every baby I know or have known has had juice as a baby and toddler in a bottle or sippy cup and none of them ever suffered from any type of tooth problems or decay. The only time you have problems like that is if you are loading your kid up on sugary drinks all day long and not taking care of their teeth at all.

I have given both of my sons juice from about 5 months on. In the beginning I would put a little in a straw cup (the Playtex Insulator kind with the straw) with water as an occasional treat. Now, my son who is 18 months old gets a cup of juice during the day (9oz of 50% water and 50% juice). He is a very healthy eater and drinks milk as well, so I see nothing wrong with letting him enjoy himself. My 5 month old only gets juice when he is having problems going #2, but I will let him have it like my son when he gets older.

t's fine from abut 4 months as long as the juice is very dilute.
I would probably buy pure fruit juice and dilute it right down with water, rather then using dilutiing juice which can have a lot of sugar or sweetners in it. Alternativly you can buy baby fruit juice which is prefect as it is specially made for them.

WIC gives you juice around six months old so I think you can be okey about giving her juice right about now if you delude it.

When I took my daughter to her pediatrician at 2 months he told me it was ok to give her juice as long as I do half juice and half water and she loves it!!!

Juice is empty calories and full of sugar which is bad for their teeth once they start coming in. My daughter who is 3 now only has water in a sippy cup and once she could use a regular cup she was able to have 1/4 cup of juice if she asked for it. It is very bad for tooth decay to let them sip on juice. Having pureed fruit is much healthier. My 5 1/2 month old only has a little water in a sippy cup and I will only offer her juice when she can hold a regular cup.

When my 3yr old used to get constipated as a baby, we diluted fresh orange juice!! This used to help his bowels, even now he has a cup of fresh orange joice every day, if he doesnt he struggles with bowel movements!!

i just gave my daughter some today for the first time I bought the gerber baby juice and it said for sitters and she can almost sit.. so i triedit she only had an once or two but really enjoyed it and hasnt had any problems... she is constipated from the solid foods so i was hoping it would help her go but no such luck so i feel confident giving it to her when she isnt constipated

I have given my son juice several times, starting when he was about three months old. I did it at that age because he had a hard time having bowel movements so he needed something that would help loosen him up. My pediatrician is okay with it. I know this because when he turned about 4 months old we took him to the doctor and they had to test his urine. We needed him to use the bathroom and of course he wouldn't. Well the doctor gave us lots of Pedialyte to get him going. I figure that's pretty much the same as juice so I feel okay with giving it to him.
