So I have been contemplating putting Tristin into a home daycare just 2 days a week before the new baby comes. He will be 1 in November and I was thinking it may be good for him to be with other toddlers and give me that 2 days break, especially when Emilie comes. Just wanted everyones thoughts because I never put my eldest in a daycare before.

i also agree that this would be a very good idea. i work full time so both my boys have been associated with daycare and i think it is great for them. Jaycob is 5 now so he has started going to school every other day and then goes to the daycare on the other days and Elyjah goes everyday, I to have found a home daycare and the lady there is just fantastic - honesly dont know what i would do without her. When i go on maternity leave in about a month i still plan to keep my boys going a few days a week so that they can stay associated with all the kids, i dont want them going from being in a daycare 5 days a week to all of a sudden being home 5 days a week and then after my mat leave is up being thrown back in daycare 5 days a week. I think you are definately making the right decision. Good luck!!

Thanks Nykee! The good thing is I did find one right down the street so I wouldn't be far, but its just no one else has ever watched my kids - I don't even have a babysitter, my eldest has always just been with my mom or school. So it will be new but I think good for us both.

The socialization can be good, and a break sounds heavenly. Just make sure you check references, investigate the home he'll be staying in, and ask A LOT of questions (What is the child:adult ratio? What is provided? Do they play outside? Is there a fence? What kind of meals will they have? Are there pets? Is the provider CPR/First Aid certified?)
Obviously, never hand your child over to someone you are not 150% comfortable with!
