When are you setting up your registry for babyshower(s)?

Yeah good point. Who knows maybe I'm just having difficulty because I'm going for neutral items and clothes since we are keeping the sex a surprise. I guess my sisters and I plus the father are going out on the 10th to finish up the registry. Also last time the father and I talked we were going to buy the crib ourselves since none of his family or my own seem to listen to the specifics of what we say and since we want the specific color we just plan to get it on our own. Also my friend was saying she was going to give me the bassinet she has so a crib won't be a quick needed item also we plan to use the top of a dresser I have for the changing table since I will be sharing my room with the baby for at least the first 6 months.

Ask for whatever you think you will need. Be sure to add the big stuff like cribs, mattress, changing table (if you want one), etc. I find Wal-Mart's website to be really helpful because of their breakdown. I would also consider asking your sister. She'll love feeling involved and no one ever said you have to take every suggestion you get. ;) I know I don't. LOL. But I have found that older siblings and such can be extremely helpful even in ways that we would never expect. I'm coming up on my 23rd birthday so EVERYBODY is older than I am. I've just had to sift thru the well-meant advice and use what I can and discard the rest. Even if you do forget something though, when your baby is born healthy and happy then you'll just figure it out whenever you actually need it. :-)

Oh cool thank you Michelle!.
So I think I have definitely hit a road block as to what I need to ask for or what I need for the baby. I know I am missing something but for the life of me I can't think of anything else that I need.. I don't really want to ask my oldest sister since after looking at her registry and seeing all the useless stuff on it I feel that asking her would be like asking for a porche when only having enough money for a neon.

I'm using MyRegistry.com to start mine now. I'm not due til April 24th but it lets you start creating it and opening it up to other people whenever you are ready. It also lets you add from any website you can find! It's been a great help. Good Luck! :)

I started up my registries about 4 weeks ago. I didn't know boy or girl so a lot of things are unisex but once I found out it's a girl I started adding on the pink. Due April 3rd and my mom told me she will throw the shower. I have already told her it has to be done before my 36th week, only b/c my DS (2nd kiddo) was born at 36 weeks and I don't want to wait until I'm ready to pop to try to enjoy one.

Really? I've only seen one person ever put one on their registry and they were asking for the most expensive one at the store. I think I may just save up and get the one I want because no one in my family ever really listens when I say I want a certain brand of item. They always get me the brand they like best when I pick the one with the best ratings. Plus I'm only asking for a $45 manual breast pump for the first month or more to help with engorgement since I will be working on making sure baby takes to breast before introducing bottles to 'em. Then after that an electric one can be bought.

put that breast-pump on the registry! I have seen them on many baby registry. It's definitely not at all like like asking people to buy you a box of condoms or tampons. It's common practice to register for it.

Thank you Dominique and all the rest of the ladies. I have slowly started my walmart registry since I already have an account with them so it was the easiest of the two. Now to decide if I want to start on target and do them both at the same time or finish walmart and start on target.

I am due April 17th and my husband and I registered at babies r us last week ad target last night. I feel since most the things we want will be gender neutral (aside from clothes) we can get a head start on it. Since life is only going to get more crazy from here on out! :) Best of luck to you.

Thank you ladies! I think I may start setting one up either tonight or this weekend. I already have the two stores picked out that I'm going to have the registries through. I know target and walmart have all that I want and I don't plan on asking someone to buy me a $30 outfit when they can find it for half the price at walmart and target. Plus I've been looking at friends registries and what all they ask for and I've been getting a good idea of what I want to ask for and what I want to buy myself. I mean I'm not going to ask someone to buy me a breast pump, that be like asking someone to buy me a box of condoms or tampons. Something I would rather do on my own. So yes, plus I don't plan on finding out what baby is until little one is born and people think I'm crazy for it. I was a surprise so I want my first born to be a surprise, kinda in memory of my mom.

I set up mine as soon as I found out what I was having. By doing it early your able to add things you might have forgotten (that was 5 years ago) . Now that I am expecting baby #2 i don't plan on setting up a registry this time around. I don't have the budget or the time to throw a baby shower for myself like i did last time so i figure if family/friends want to get something for the baby they will just ask what I need. I'm due April 17th. So probably early January. We plan on moving soon (to a different city, not a different state) so it depends on when we move also.

I like to set mine up really early that way as I realize that I have forgotten stuff it is before anyone is actually looking at it...I don't share that I have made one until I send out invitations
