how I hate you oh leg cramps.

Just complaining about those horrible wake you in the middle of the night leg cramp that locks your muscles. Luckily for me it only lasts 45 seconds or so but you can feel the muscle stick out like a bone and it hurts so bad, Luckily I told my hubby in advance that I get them at the end of pregnancy and I made sure to add while I was yelling in pain "leg." Ha ha, that made him feel better.

Is there any way to avoid these leg/foot cramps? My leg is still sore from it this morning.

Stretching before you go to bed is the only thing that's helped me. My hubby helps me, since I can't really reach my toes now. I lay on my back or side (depending on how I feel), and he pushed my leg up for me slowly while I flex my foot (my calves are my problem children). We hold the position for the count of ten, release and repeat. Then we switch legs.

During the day, when I pass over a curb, I'll also take a minute to drop my heel over the edge and stretch out the muscle, too, but only if I have something I can hold onto, bc I'm very much a weeble wobble these days!

Hope that helps!

Yes realised that if you ever yelp in pain while pregnant everyone assumes you're in labour. For my leg cramps my hubby squeezes my leg, seems to help ease them. Once the cramps have eased it's good to get up and walk and stretch the muscles

Stretching before bed does wonders. I got bad leg cramps at the beginning of my second trimester when we moved into our new apartment with the mile-high stair steps. Horrible! I'd wake up and get them as soon as I woke up! But when I started stretching before bed they stopped and I haven't had them since.

Do you know any other source of potassium. I am allergic to bananas and so I can't eat them. Great suggestion though.
