does anyone have a baby with acid reflux.. my son Nathan had his formula changed, was put on zantac and cereal in his bottle. it doesnt seem to be working. anyone one with advice for me would be appreciated

both my children have/had reflux. Zantac contains alchol so I would suggest NOT using it. Our Pedi prescribes Axid and we have NO problems.

my son has acid reflex too. he had it so bad, he would quite breathing, therefore he was in ICU for a week. he was put on the zantac, and rice in his formula as well. he was also on reglan. in my opinion, this works well. but currently there is a law suit going on about it. it has been linked to causing uncontrolable movements of body parts. I told my doctor and he was later taken off of it. But every baby is different. Good luck!

My oldest daughter (Hayden, born January 30 2009) had acid reflux and they put her on prevacid and Similac Alimentum both seemed to work. My newborn, Ashlyn born January 8 2010, I'm told has the same problem, they put her on Zantac and the same formula and I am seeing no results. I'm hoping they switch her to prevacid and soon, the poor thing screams constantly and never sleeps for more than an hour at a time. The only thing I can tell you at this moment in time is what helped Hayden the most is having her sleep in her swing, because she was upright. She slept in that thing for the first six months, and once she seemed to be over her problems had no problem being switched into the crib. So like Meredith said ask to be switched to the prevacid if the zantac isn't working, I'm going that direction myself, and try having him sleep inclined. Good luck :)

give the meds some time to work it took a few weeks before I noticed any improvement

My baby has reflux and is on prevacid and thickened formula. It seems to be working great for her. We also do all the usual stuff such as keeping her upright during feedings and for an hour after and burping her frequently. Maybe try a different medicine such as prevacid.

I am having the same issues. We started Zantac on Friday and I changed him to Enfamil AR which has the rice cereal in it. He still has bad reflux. I feel so bad for him. Besides spitting up half of what he eats, I know how uncomfortable he is. We go back to the doctor this coming Friday and I am going to press to try something different.
