My little girl is 5 1/2 months and loves eating her rice cereal from a spoon! She has done wonderful with it! I was thinking of starting her on some baby food. Has anyone given their little one baby food yet? If so, what did you start with?

Sophia (born Jan 28) hated cereal, so i add some fruit in the morning for her breakfast, and her other meals are mostly green and orange veggies, she also has a late afternoon snack of cereal and veggies. I started both my girls with green, then moved to orange and then yellow. I was very slow and careful with my first when I introduced new stuff, but have zipped right thru with my 2nd. Will watch her reactions with foods that have higher allergy issues, but she eaten peas, green and yellow beans, sweet potatoe, squash, carrots, banana, peaches, pears, apple sauce and just tried blueberries !!! She loves them all.

We did Rice Cereal, then Oatmeal Cereal, then mixed cereal and now we are onto Carrots. I think I'll do either brocolli or peas next. I make my own, so I just do whatever extra veggies I have in the fridge that week.

my son is 5 months a 1 weeks and has cereal mixed with fruit for breakfast, 2 6-7 oz bottles, then cereal mixed with fruit and some veggie. Then an 8oz bottle before bed. I did apples, then pears, carrots, squash, and now on sweet potatoes. i plan to alternate a fruit and veg for each introduction. he's doing great!

We started our little girl on rice cereal right at 4 months as per Dr. recommendation, but she was NOT interested. I tried if for a few weeks, then decided to try something different. She REALLY likes her fruits. Her new favorite is bananas. She even tried to take the spoon and feed herself today!

I've read all different recommendations on what to feed first, some say veggies then fruit and others fruit first. I think it's just important to give several days in between each to make sure they don't have bad reactions to any. And have FUN!!

We started our son on rice cereal at 4months and after about 2 weeks of cereal at morning and before bed we added different baby foods for lunch and dinner as instructed by our pediatrician. we only give him one type of baby food a day. I tried something i read in a magazine, give him half his bottle then some food (about 2-3 teaspoons) then the rest of the bottle. So far so good, he loves any solid food we feed him: rice cereal, peas, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, and pears!

Making baby food is so easy and CHEAP! Have you ever heard of feeding a baby avocado? It is the perfect first food.
-I make my baby food and freeze it in ice cube trays then pop them into a container to store the cubes. I just take one cube out and thaw it. Easy to put in a little jar when you have to be out and about and it thaws through the day.

My son is the same age and we just started rice cereal last week. Originally I really wanted to do the "one food for two weeks" to insure he doesn't have a food allergy. However, we decided to try some carrots and pears as well. We have a bowl of rice cereal and about a tablespoon of carrots or pears for lunch everyday. Just one solid food meal a day for my fully breastfed baby. My nigh sleeper is finally taking one nice long nap a day after eating his solids. But I am going to take it really slow.

We just started rice cereal about 2 weeks ago and she loves it. I made her some butternut squash and gave it to her for the first time two days ago, and she wasn't a big fan :) We'll try it again for a few times, though, I'm sure the taste was just so unfamiliar. I'll keep doing a new veggie every couple of days and then some fruits. For now, I'm going to make it all myself.

I started my son on solids when he was 20 weeks. I was recommended to do this by a pedeatrician as it would help his acid reflux. He now has 3 meals a day of proper baby food and then breastmilk last thing at night before bed and first thing in the morning and as a snack between meals. I have cooked and then blended potatos, carrots & brocolli and he gets that with baby rice or half a glas of baby food. In the morning he has porridge or cereal.

My son is also on rice cereal and I just finished introducing him to green beans. The first day he frowned, realizing it wasn't his normal rice cereal. After that he enjoyed it. Good luck!

My LO just turned six months. 2 weeks ago i started him on rice cereal and then oatmeal with mashed banana in it. 2 days ago i tried mashed yams..he seemed to like them..a little but different texture and taste but he still ate them. I made them myself by roasting them in the oven cause boiling them they loose a lot of their nutritional value and then mashed them with a mixer and added boiled water to make them runnier and easier to eat! Then any leftovers you can freeze in small portions and you have some when you want them!

Hi Jenifer. My baby is 5 months old and has started her on purity for 5 month. She started well but then i found that she was crying more when the time for sleeping is near. I have not tried rice cereal. I have also stoped the purity for 2 days and she was sleeping peacefully those two day. I also do not know what to do about the baby food and am scared that it is to much on her tummy aspecially in the evenings.

I've only done rice cereal and then introduced oatmeal. I hear to start with veggies, so I'll be starting those within the next couple weeks. I also hear to introduce 1 at a time and then wait 3-7 days to make sure your child isn't allergic.
