hi, i have bipolar disorder and i have been on many different medications for depression and panic attacks over the years. some of the medications drs give you can be addictive but at the dose that you would be on you dont need to worry. i am currently taking loxalate, and have also been on xanex, zoloft, prozac and many others, i have never became addicted. your dr will wean you off them when you feel you dont need them any more. make sure you dont just stop them as this can be very very dangerous. remember that caring for your baby is the most important thing atm. i hope this helps.

Anti-depressants aren't addictive and the right one can be really helpful. Exercise is also a natural mood booster. Pushing yourself to get out and engage with people is really important. I know how easy it is to just hide away because you don't have the motivation or the energy to do anything else. If you're nursing, try to keep that up- the hormones act as a mood stabilizer. It's also really, really important to have support, both physical and emotional. Try not to feel guilty or down on yourself for being depressed- it bears no indication of who you are or how good a mom you are. It' a rough road, for sure, I've been there too many times, but it does get better. Take care,
Jenny

I have postpartum and my doctor today told me she is very concerned about me (apparently I am close to the edge!). I am on antidepressants (Paxil) and it is fine. Not addictive at all. I was on Zoloft, but it made me clench my teeth so bad, I got migraines. Prozac isn't bad, quite good, but not if you are breastfeeding. Don't look so down on them, I have never gotten addicted to any of them. But they are helpful. You have to take care of you in order to take care of that prescious bundle. If you ever need to talk, I am just an email away. I can always talk to you via phone as well. Best of luck Lisa!
