Hello everybody! I was just wondering what you are all using right now as contraception. I still haven't got round to arranging anything yet (silly, I know) but I had read in a great book by Ina May, Midwife/Doula, that so long as you're breastfeeding during the day at least every four hours and six hours during the night, your baby is less than six months old and your period hasn't returned yet that the chance of getting pregnant is less than 2%, about the same as the contraceptive pill. I'm particulary interested in hearing from mom's who are using an alternative to the contraceptive pill. Thanks!

I got my tubes tied and 2 months later I had my husband get a vasectomy. I was also breastfeeding until a few days ago and I got my period the day after I stopped nursing/pumping.

I have the Mirena IUD and I'm really happy with it. I was on the pill when I got pregnant with my first baby. We were in the process of moving and I didn't take it at the same time each day. I wanted something that was a little more fool proof and I didn't have to be so aware of. I had an IUD after my first baby for 3 years and didn't have any side effects or problems. I took it out last March and was pregnant in April. I had the Mirena put in 6 weeks after this baby was born and had spotting for a couple of months, but no cramps or other side effects. I'm really happy with it.
