my son will be six months on the 30th, and he is getting too big for his swing. i know that he is a little on the chunky side(20lbs) and i wanna get him a jumperoo but they all say the age is 6-12 months and up to 25lbs. how would he be able to use the jumper if he is too heavy, it makes no sense to me. i wanna get one to have him sitting up right more cause he is so lazy and doesnt wanna sit up on his own. please help with suggestions on what i can use or any other suggestions. thanks.

The recommend you use an exersaucer over a jumper or a walker as they are both either developmentally useless or impeding. I use an exersaucer with my daughter and she loves the toys on it.

jumperoos work wonders! my little man is on the chunky side too and he jumps his little heart out and it wears him out too so he naps for alot longer now~ b4 we got it he was so bored and didnt like to stand AT all no matter how much i tried to get him too..so it does strengthen his legs and core muscles..we have a walker too but i havent put him in there that much maybe ill try that! last time i did his feet still didnt reach the ground lol..but the jumperoos are amazing i recommend getting one!

I was going to recommend an exersaucer as well. It works great and they can bounce and jump in it as well.

Walker is a good idea My son has a walker and he LOVES it he flies through my house like hes crazy lol but you have to be sure to be with him and not leave him unattended for fear of fallin down steps or jumping out (i had to get a 2nd walker that goes higher so my son quit tryin to reach things on the floor and nearly taking a head dive) they also have those lil seats that hook to kitchen chair for older children who eat real solids I put mine up against my couch so he cant tip it back and let him sit up in it then use his lil matt with the toys that hang for something for him to do lol be creative!

I have the little einsteins jumperoo that is freestanding also, and yes the weight limit goes a lot higher. I just checked the instruction manual and mine says it is good up to 40 lbs. Dominic lovesssss it! I have bought extra dangling toys and he could sit in it for hours playing with that or the music. Exersaucers are good also but if they spend too much time in them it is bad for their hips my dr. said.

I would check around a little more... there are exersaucers out there that have a higher weight limit. Try more tummy time as well, it forces them to raise their heads a little more and it strengthens their back to help them sit up better.

How about a walker? They have a frame and wheels. My (not so) little man loves his. It keeps him upright with his feet just touching the ground and he can zoom around the room without being able to escape. It's great. (google "baby walkers" if you don't know what I mean)

I have the Little Einstein Jumper (it is freestanding not one of the doorway ones) and if i remember right it is up to 35lb. Desi absolutely loves hers and jumps for at least an hour every morning. it also makes music and you can hang rings from it which she loves and it folds semi-flat if you don't have the space to have it out all of the time. Hope this helps. Happy Jumping!
