My daughter is 8 months old and I still feed her every 3 hours. She takes 5-6oz and then gets cereal and baby food 3 times a day. When do you stop feeding them every 3 hours?

We are on 3 6 oz bottles and 3 meals, which is about normal for all my boys. Just take your lo's lead on this :-)

My son eats three times at night and five or six times during the day. Frequently he comes up for a cuddle and a quick nurse then goes about his business. I don't think it's every 3 hours like clockwork, but at least you know you're not alone.

Hello! well my son is 8 months as well and he eats when ever he is hungry. He gets up every morning around 7am and after being up for about an hour he is ready for something to eat. I give him baby food and a sippy cup of some kind of juice. Then around 11 and noon, he is ready for a nap. At that time I give him a bottle of formula. When he wakes up after usaually a half hour to a full hour nap, we are very busy. Playing, going to the park, and dancing..he loves to dance! He usually just eats when ever he shows signs that he is hungry. He actually tells me when he is hungry..by saying bite and shacking his head as if he is saying yes! I was told by landons ped that you dont have to always have your baby on a schedule. Your baby will tell you when she is hungry and when she is full!! Good Luck!

In the book "Save our Sleep" by Tizzie Hall it recommends feeding our 8 month olds milk 4 times per day, 7, 11am, 3pm, and 6:30pm with solids at 8am, 12md and 5pm. For a 9 month old and on she recommends halving the 11am and 3pm feeds and adding some snacks to the menu.I'm trying to follow her routine and overall it seems to be working for us.

The best thing I've done for me was find a routine I like and follow it.

We have a similar schedule to many:
7am nurse and back to bed
9am nurse
10:30am cereal and fruit
11 Nap til 12:30
2 Nurse
2:30 cereal and fruit
3 Nap til 4:30
4:30 nurse
5 veggies, meat and fruit
6:30 8oz bottle with Dada
7:30 nurse to sleep

We have been doing the cluster of fees in the evening for a long time and he has been sleeping right through the whole night for months.

My 8 month old daughter would eat constantly if she could. she has probably 8 things of baby food a day plus cereal and probably 5 bottles.

I think that is normal. about this age the need snacks to hold them over inbetween meals. I also noticed that if you nurse they eat more. at least my son does. My first was formula fed and still ate every couple hours but some were just snacks.

my first born would eat 8 oz every 4 hours from about 3 or 4 months, at around 6 months his grandparents would feed him food during the day along with 8oz every 4 hours. I also worried about feeding him to much. I had an emergency room doctor till me not to feed him so much when he was 4 months bc he had reflux. BUT his normal doctor became very upset with me when I told her she then told me do not starve your son and advised me to never go back to that hospital. He slept peacefully through the next from one wk on. With my second child now 8 months I feed him baby food during the day along with 6 oz every 4 hours he weighs a little less than my first born did at this age, but he wont seep through the night. I would say if she sleeps through the night and your doctor doesn't say anything than she is fine :).

I nursed my baby every three hours until I noticed that she wasn't very interested and would only nurse for a few minutes. She likes eating solids so I started feeding her solids at breakfast. Her sleep was horrible, so I got the courage to follow the advice in healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and follow the recommended schedule for her age.
She wakes about 6 am and nurses
8 am she has oatmeal and fruit
9 am she naps
10:30 am (about) she nurses
12:30 pm she has veggies
1:00 pm she naps
3:00 she nurses
5:30 she has veggies and fruit
8:00 she nurses and goes to bed
Before I tried this schedule she was taking a couple of short naps and waking every hour or two during the night. Now she is sleeping about ten hours at night and taking better naps. Now she is interested when it is time to nurse and actually seems to enjoy the time instead of it being a battle to get her to do it.

My 8 mo daughter sounds like she's doing the same thing as yours and others. She nurses about every 3 hrs (about 4-5 oz), and has solids 3-4 times a day. Unfortunately she's still waking every 3-4 hrs in the night too, though i'm not sure she's really "hungry"...i think it's more about nursing.

I'm still nursing like 8 times a day and one solid a day. Avocado. and sometimes that's every other day that I give her that.

i have no idea to be honest, usually olivia has 3 meals and 2 bottles a day but lately she has had 2 meals and sometimes only 1 meal and has had 3 bottles today with 2 meals but she didn't take all of her last bottle and her one bottle was only 4oz so i think it depends on ur child, some kids have snacks inbetween meals where as olivia rearely does

I still feed my LO every 3-4 hours too. Our schedule goes a lil something like this.
8:00a.m 5-6 o.z Formula + 4o.z of fruit & oatmeal
11 a.m. 6 o.z Formula
2 p.m 5-6 o.z of Formula + 4 o.z veggie & fruit mix
5 p.m 5-6 o.z of Formula
8 p.m 5-6 o.z of Formula + 4 o.z veggie & Rice

If he is still up at 10 p. m. (we are working on getting him to bed a lot earlier but he is a little resistant) I will give him a couple more O.Z of milk to put him to sleep.

If he is hungry feed him!!!

My son wakes at 7 am....give him a bottle then around 9 am I give him some cereal....he goes down for a nap then around noon I give him vegetables and meat with some fruit after....around 2 pm he has his 2nd bottle then goes down for a nap. Then around 5 pm he has supper, veggies, meat and some fruit for dessert.....then around 6 pm he has a bottle....then around 9 pm I give him is last bottle and he goes to bed. (Each bottle has about 7 oz) I have read a few charts and they all said to feed your baby aleast 3 times a day and about 3-4 tbsps of veggies etc at each sitting and then milk babies are supposed to get between 24-32 oz a day at 8 months old. Good luck

Eating (something) every 3 hours is something EVERYONE should be doing. It is the best thing for your body to keep you nourished and keep your energy up. This goes for you too, mom. I would say your little one is doing just great!!!
As for sleeping through the night, mine doesn't, she wakes every 2 - 3 hours to nurse and until we cut back on the nursing (not for a while yet!) I doubt that will change.

My son eats 3 meals a day. takes his breast milk every 2.5hrs during the day. and wakes up 2-3 times a night to feed. i just started giving him gerbers blueberry, pear, oats before bed time to see if that will help him sleep longer through the night. you are lucky that your child sleeps through the night

My daughter is breast feeding 5 times a day ( one of those is at around 2am) and eats solids 3 times a day... so pretty much the same as your daughter, except mine gets about 4 hours between breast feedings during the day...

That's nice. She is clearly eating enough to keep her satisfied during the night. I wouldn't mess with a good thing. :)

I think it`s pretty normal. My son would like to eat every two hours. I hold him off to about 2 and a half or 3 hours. He is also eating lots of solids at every meal. All the doctors and nurses I have heard from say feed them when they are hungry. Does your daughter eat in the night too? Mine eats once usually between 2 and 4 am. Hope this helps.
