Milk allergies.....?

My son has been eating cheese and a little ice cream from 9 months to now with no problems.. Last week he turned one and the Doctor gave the go ahead for us to switch from formula to whole milk. He was fine the first couple of days and since sunday is is happy, but has several bowel movements, a rash and is very gassy and fussy at bed time. I called the doc back this morning and I have been advised to switch to Soy milk. My only other questions now is this.... Why is it he eats the cheese and whatever other dairy product he is fine, but with the milk he isn't?

Not Sure But My Son Is The Same Way. He's On A Lactose Free Milk. It Seems To Work Well. I Also Give Him, Cheese & Ice Cream And Hes Fine With It.

Yes WIC has told me that the amount of lactose in milk is higher and to also mix his similac sensitive formula with the milk to help his body produce the enzymes needs to break the lactose down. We're battling the same thing! Poor baby has the worst rash and never had a diaper rash before!

Don't do soy milk. It has so must estrogen and it's bad for your kids. Switch to something else. Goat milk, almond milk, etc... The reason he reacts a bit is because of the amount he is eating. Good luck.

Cheese and yogurt have less lactose in it than milk. My daughter has basically been diagnosed with a Milk Protein Intolerance and is on Allimentum (concern of Soy Protein issues too) but can still eat cheese and yogurt with no issues.

my daugther was on soy formula. her pedi told us to graduatally introduce the milk not to do it all at once. he also told me to mix the soy milk with whole milk and after about a month do straight whole milk and if my daughter couldnt handle it then go back to soy or even try lactose free!

my son has a milk allergy but it seems to be only if he had too much milk. The Paediatrician we saw told us it was a build up effect, the body can cope with it to a level but beyond that the rash & sore nappies would kick in.
