My daughter is 5 months and it seems like she's the only baby on here who doesn't roll over yet. Is this bad?? She hates laying down and likes to sit up all the time, and even when i can get her to lay on her play mat she only rolls on her side. I'm sure its ok I was just wondering if there are any other babies not rolling over yet.

My 5 month old has rolled from back to tummy once, on accident. She hasn't tried since then either. Her time will come eventually!

Hi there. I too have a daughter (born Jan 11) who does not roll, but I am ok with this. I do not do tummy time, as I am parenting under the Emmi Pikler Philosophy. In short, babies go from lying on their backs, to rolling to crawling and then sitting. It is the natural progression of a child's physical development, and it is very rewarding to see your child achieve these milestones independently. Sit back, relax and enjoy your child, whatever they are into :o)

My little prince has actually stopped rolling over and I have no clue why... He was rolling over in May all the time and its as if he's no longer interested. I read that you can do a tosistie roll; take a towel, place your baby on it then slowly lift one side until they roll over. I started doing this excerise in hopes that he'll want to rediscover the rollover... maybe it will work for you. Good Luck.

My baby does the same, only rolls on to his side and loves attacking his toes. I think its normal, but they should start to roll over by 6 months according to the web.

don't worry, your not the only one, my son just turned 5 months and he still doesn't roll over completely. He also hates laying down to, he wants to be sitting up all the time so he can see whats going on around him.

Paige is not rolling over either. She did 3x's at 2weeks and has yet to since. But she is sitting without support holding her own bottle and doing other things I know it will come in time so I wouldn't worry..

My son is 5 months old also and hasn't rolled over yet. He will roll on his side to look at something or grab a toy and then go back to his back. I fear he is behind on rolling.

Even though she hates laying down, you should still put her on her tummy and her back, and rolling side to side shows that she is trying to roll over, my lil one is 5 months 3 weeks, he had rolled 3-4 times from his tummy to his back, ( the easy one lol) but a few days ago he flipped over onto his tummy now he is doing it constantly... Just put her on her tummy or back and put something brightly colored just out of her reach, it will give her more incentive to try and roll hope this helps

Olivia turned 5months on the 24th June and she didn't roll over properly, she would go on her side and if i put her on her tummy she would roll on her back, she could roll on her tummy but couldnt get her arm out and would get frustrated then yesterday she managed to get her arm out but couldnt roll back on her stomach but then today 26th she managed to roll on her tummy and pulled her arms out and then managed to roll on her back again.
So I would'nt worry too much hun she will do it when she is ready, if you are worrying take her to your doctor and speak to them

Caitlin is 5 months on 29th & she has been rolling from her back to belly for about 3-4 weeks. She has rolled from her belly to her back just once. Since being just a few weeks old she has loved to be sat up but more recently she likes to be stood up......i think she may walk before she can crawl!! lol x

You are not alone. my son is just a week and a half older and I swear he has NO intention of rolling over, he gets almost all the way over from back to tummy then turns himself back around. He LOVES to sit up, he loves to stand (not on his own yet) so you are not alone.. we just have to give them a little more time =-p

I have premature twins turning 5 months old soon. One of them started to roll over when he turned 4 months old (or 2months old corrected age) while the other one is not, yet :) Jessica Bagby is right, babies do things at their own speed and time :)

My son is almost 6 months and only rolls to the side from his back. He does get some tummy time but hates it, he missed out on some tummy time when I had to spend a month in hospital. He loves sitting up and then standing up from there, being helped a bit. Not worried as 2 of my brothers never crawled, 1 just got up and walked!!

my daughter will be 6 months on the 7th of july & rolled over from belly to back when she was about 7 weeks old (ONCE) on my futon & scared herself i think.lol. she won't roll over all the way unless i put my hand behind her to prevent her from rolling back to her starting point. lol. she likes to sit up. she throws herself forward & backward in her walker to move it, she rolls onto her side almost all the way but WILL NOT roll over all the way. its really cute actually because i tell her to just roll her shoulder forward & as soon as i say that she flies back onto her back!!! LOL and when she's on her tummy she'll turn herself around but won't roll over. I can hold her in a standing position by holding ONLY her hips & she stays upright just fine but its like she's already telling me that she not gonna do what i want her to do, simply because i want her to do it!!! LMAO i know she will when she's ready but until then i'll just keep telling her that she can roll over & that its okay if she doesn't want to because most of the time she is content no matter how i lay her down.. although she generally prefers her back i found that right after she naps before she eats is a really good time for tummy time!!!

I thought I was the only one who's baby wasn't really rolling over yet... My Rebecca will only roll from her belly to back once in a while. I have been frustrated and really trying to work with her. She can sit unassisted some but the rolling over is not progressing very well. Her Dr. said not to worry!! It's frustrating though

My little Ian turned 5 months on Sat the 19th and he is not rolling from front to back and can only roll to his sides when he holds his toes/feet to help him along. He loves sitting up but can't do it on his own, but he loves the "Bumbo" seat.

My duaghter is 5 months and does the same thing. I read somewhere the range for rolling is anywhere from 4-6 months. I am not too worried. I had a friend who's son only rolled a few times and now is 11 months old and is started to walk holding onto things. He just kind of skipped rolling.
They will do it eventually:)

What my cousin and i realized is that both our girls rolled over when there was something hanging above them to reach for. My cousins 6 month old was knocking the arches over on her play mat so she had taken them off. On seeing danika playing and raching and rolling over she realized that her daughter stped rolling over when she had to take the arches off. While my daughter loves to roll over she does not sit up yet. My cousins baby now sits up and slips to her belly from sitting. They all do there own thing, like different things, get hair and teeth at different times.

stop worrying all babies do things at their own time, i have looked after babies that dont roll but suddenly crawl... some miss rolling and go to crawling others miss crawling and go to walking whilst others so all three but at no set time.. she'll do it in time.. could even try some rolling games where u help and encourage it but dont push her
