I don't think you should push it. The average age for girls to be potty trained is 2 1/2, and the average age for boys is 3 1/2. If they are showing serious interest in the potty at 18 months, then go for it. But I learned with my first child not to push it. I know it can be exciting! But if you push just because YOU want them trained and out of diapers, you're liable to have a disappointing set back. If that does happen, don't get discouraged.......just step back, take a deep breath, and try again in a few months, the next time they show interest. once you know they are ready, stick with it, and good luck!

My daughter is 21 months old and i started potty training her at 17 - 18 months. She is dry all day, apart from the odd accident and is wearing knickers. She still wears nappies in bed though. I think only a mother knows when their child is ready and you should go with what you think. Hope this helps

my daughter is there she went wees in the potty for the 1st about a week ago.. of course then she had to play with it but hey... there is NEVER an age too young. A lady was telling me about a thing called elimination communication. which is potty training from newborn. Aparantly babies are NOT "trained" to go to the toilet in their nappies... just try taking him to the toilet with you make grunting sounds or sounds like sssssssssssssssssssssssss..... when he does them back when your not on the toilet he is ready... hope this helps

i started potty training my daughter when she was 13 months because she was showing interest in the potty and knew the difference between pee and pooop. as i first time mom i never realized that you shouldnt potty train your child unless they stop having bottles and move on to sippys. shes 20 months now and doesnt have any bottles . going to start again with the potty training
