Silent acid reflux...

My son was diagnosed at 4 weeks with silent acid reflux and was put on baby zantac 3x a days. It seemed to help at first and now he is 12 weeks and it is not helping him at all. We have screaming episodes for hours on end. Also we have tried every type of formula on the market and were now on soy and it hasn't made much of a difference and the cereal in his bottle didn't help at all. We don't know what to do for his refluxs or what to give him. Is there anyone who is going through this or knows what to do to help them with it?!

My son has GERD (severe acid reflux) I just took him to the doctors again today because he was having episodes of screaming that would last 2-3 hours. I know you know that they don't just cry they SCREAM. They put him on a different medicine that is only 1 time a day it's called Omeprazole, and he has been sleeping for 4 hours since I gave it to him. Hopefully it works. Talk to your doctor about it.. A doctor told me that soy has a lot of estrogen in it, and that babies shouldn't really be getting it. You might want to look into that, "just in case." my son has the same thing. The zantac has stopped working for him aswell, so i understand. Maybe your son needs a stronger dosage or a different medicine there are a couple of different ones they could give him.

My daughter's doctor told us to leave her formula alone because sometimes switching a lot can make it worse and to keep her in a reclined position whenever she sleeps. It seems to be worse if we lay her down flat and she tends to throw a fit so whenever we hold her, her head is always up by our shoulders. Doesn't sound like much but it helped her so maybe it'll work for you!

He may have outgrown his dose of medicine. Even just a pound can change the amount of medicine they get. I know they readjust my son's everytime I go in. Also I used Enfamil Gentle Ease with my daughter and it worked the best when she had silent reflux.

Similac Isomil (Soy) is what helped my LO. He still cries sometimes and still spits up, but not as often as before. Make sure you try out a formula for more than a week before giving up on it. I'd talk to your doctor again and if he/she can't help, find a different doctor that can.
