my ankles have been extremely swollen especially if i am out running errands all day and just don't sit down and relax for awhile...my rings barely fit anymore when they use to almost fall off my fingers. When i went to my doctors last week they told me its early to be carrying water weight. But that is the only that can explain why i am puffing up like a balloon so badly!! I talked to my mom adn she said the same thing happened to her when she was pregnant...but i feel like i am the odd duck and that i shouldn't be carrying this much water yet??

Try drinking more water and cutting out as much salt as possible and caffiene if you are having any. Also, try getting some compression socks. They sell them in a pharmacy. They help with circulation in the legs. I would only try the knee high ones. It will at the very least help with the swelling in your feet and legs. Make sure you take plenty of breaks during the day and rest with your feet above your heart, of course on the left side. And remember that water gain by itself isn't too much to be that concerned about. If you start getting high blood pressure and/or protein in your urine, then you would have to worry about pre-eclampsia, but until then don't stress a lot if your doctor is trying to do anything about it.

I started swelling early with my first and if you don't do anything about it, it only gets worse trust me. At the end of the day, take a warm bath then go lay on the couch and elevate your feet for as long as you can. Also, my grandma told me to drink more water and cut out salt as much as possible because your body holds more water when it is worried that it is heading for dehydration. But make sure you put your feet up!

Oh my gosh this happened to me when I was pregnant! I didn't gain all that much weight or anything, but when I was maybe 6 or 7 months pregnant I was swollen ALL OVER! My ankles, my fingers, my feet, it was so bad. The only thing that worked for me was intensely hard foot and ankle rubs, and laying down with my legs up against a wall and staying there for awhile. Anyway it was painful and I was worried but you only have 3 more months!! Yay!! :)

My hands also started puffing up a few weeks ago - if I wear copper bracelets all day long they don't. No idea why - I don't really care either as long as it works. I'm looking for copper ankle bracelets next. ;-)
