My baby girl was born on 26Jan, and she screams and screams if I put her on her tummy. It takes her about 5 seconds to realize that she doesn't want to be there. We leave her there to cry for a couple minutes, but it takes her about 10 minutes to calm down after that. It's like she's traumatized!
I've tried doing it on a bed, on a blanket on the floor, on a mat. She won't stand for it.
Any advice?

I sit cross legged on the floor and put my baby lying so that his feet are down almost under one leg and his tummy is resting on the other leg. This way he can push up and work his back muscles on my thigh and he doesn't mind it like this. I also put him on my chest a lot. He hates being on his tummy and maybe i put him like that for a few minutes a day but he is strong enough already to turn from his tummy to his back which he has done a few times.

Anything that encourages him to lift his head up is good. I suggest you lean back on the couch and put him on your chest looking at you. That way, he is not on the floor alone but he still will probably work his back and neck muscles. Also, you two can interact! Good luck!

My son (born on January 19th) used to absolutely HATE tummy time, now he tolerates it for short intervals. I got him a colorful mat with toys in it to give him something to look at, and I've set up a mirror right in front of him to pique his curiosity there as well. I also get down on the floor with him and talk to him and encourage him. Once he gets tired of it, I turn him over and work on "sit-ups" which he LOVES. We do that until he cheers up and then I turn him back over for some more tummy time. I do this until he yells at me as soon as I start to turn him over for tummy time. Just persevere, it will pay off!

My daughter was born on the 11th of January. My doctor told me to put her on tummy time since day one for 5 mins a day. And at her 3 month checkup to do 30 mins a day. I can barely get her to do 5 minutes. She hates it. But she likes to sit and stand. Her neck seems to be strong for that. I do put her on my chest. She can do tummy time there. She'll last maybe 10-15 mins which is better than nothing. My daughter might be walking before she can crawl, lol.

My daught was born on the 23rd of January and I have been putting her on the floor like that also. She doesn't like it either but I think it is because it is hard to keep their head up and they aren't strong enough yet to pick themselves up so they can crawl. But my mom told me she was watching some doctor show and they said it is good to put them on their stomach a lttle time each day so they can build their muscles. It is hard because they keep crying but it will help them in the long run. Sometimes you have to let them cry that is how they learn that they can do things. My daighter is currently trying to roll over. She also inches her way off of her play mat. A lot of times when I put her on the floor I will be right htere with her talking to her to try to keep her from crying. Sometimes it works and other times she really just doesn't want to be on the floor. Good Luck!
